hello, i've been trying to recolor a base game window- the Fenestral Maneuver in the Dark- but when i place the window (swatch i recolored), only one side of the window shows through/is see through. i'm using photoshop & i'm sure my issue has something to do with the image/texture having the checkerboard texture...
reading through the instructions in this forum, were these recommendations:
If you're saving it as a .png, make sure the image is solid (no checkerboard texture visible on the image) before importing if the item requires no alpha (the item has no transparent areas and your mesh is mapped directly over textured areas of the image).
If you save it as a .dds and the item does not need transparent areas then save it as a .dds DXT1. If it does need transparency save it as a .dds DXT5 (Interpolated Alpha) If you're using the .dds format be sure there is a check mark in the Generate Mip Maps box.
i've only ever had to save my recolors as .pngs, but since i'm editing a window, i believe i need to save the image as a .dds DXT5... am i correct? if so, how do i do this? the only options i have to save an image are: photoshop file, photoshop PDF, Large Document Format, or as a TIFF... do i need a plugin for photoshop?
any guidance would be appreciated.
