Community....there always seems to be an issue I need help with! I'm sorry for always posting, yet it is unavoidable. I have here this file that i'm trying to frankenmesh. I am follwing Deetron's tutorial and thought I had it right but it seems that it is not so. I really liked the top from Kiara zurks civil war dress and it goes supurbly with the bottom of simsinspired's salsa dress to make a more frilly salsa dancing dress. I am having a few problems here (bear with me this is my first time recoloring AND my first time meshing...........) 1. There are red dots on the UV map after I went in and merged all of the vertices on the top and bottom meshes and I'm not sure what they are.... link [resolved] 2. There is a strange peak at her buttocks area and seaming around the skirt? link3. The pattern comes out pixelated on the bottom but clear and beautiful on the top (where Kiara's top is recolored...). I have tried to scale the layer to tile the pattern on the bottom and it still is pixelated.....from afar it look fairly nice but up close is horrible. It is the same texture image for both parts so i'm not sure what to do.... link the looking nicer picture.... link link to blendlink to correct .package fileThank you guys for taking a look!

I'm not sure about the red dots. The strange peak may be a vertex that you accidentally moved but I'm not too sure about that either. And I think that the pattern is pixelated on the bottom because the UV map is so tiny, you'll need to adjust it and maybe move it too. Could you share the .blend & .package so that I (and others) could get a closer look at the other issues? That'd be super helpful

@jwofles Thank you for your response! I tried to update the UV map but I think maybe i'm not doing it right because if I rotate it so it is bigger, it doens't color correctly. I can post the blend and package files on google drive? I'll try to do that and then update this post.

Okay I looked at it, and firstly the red dots don't show for me, so I have no clue what they are :( You could try closing the UV viewer/editor window and reopening it. For the strange thing on the back, I didn't really see any peak in the mesh so I think that's a texture issue and that's due to the mesh being decimated and idk realy, the bottom mesh is just a mess, it even looks like the inside is clipping the outside of it at some points? I don't know if this is something you've done accidentally or it's just how the mesh was made by the original creator but it makes it harder to work with. And, as well as that the UV is pretty bad (especially because the mesh is decimated). That leads onto the third problem, because the top is well made and takes a nice chunk of the UV map (as it should), the texture will look great but for the bottom part of the dress the UV is tiny, and you'd have to make it as big as the top if you want it to match (I think, not exactly sure). And also, the .package you sent is just a bra, and doesn't have the dress. That's all that I can say, maybe someone else can help you better but yeah the bottom part of the dress is just quite.. hard to work with :p

yes I know it's a mess. I have had headaches with this mesh (the bottom part) for a while. Even just doing a recolor and not touching the mesh, the texture comes out badly. I think this project is going to have to be scrapped. Such a shame because it's a rather cool design I just have no idea how to fix it. I was hoping it would be salvagable but I think this is beyond my skill level. Thanks for taking a look though!

What do you mean by "the mesh is decimated"? As I stated in my original post, this is the first time trying this so i'm not too confident in the lingo yet here is the link to the correct .package file
Just so you know what I did going in, I went to sims4studio and ticked "create a CAS standalone" and opened the salsa dress package file. I imported the frankenmesh that I did in blender and imported a texture file I did. I then saw all of the issues on the mesh and realized "oh jeez this is a problem" and set about trying to fix the mesh. The warehouse tab hasn't been touched so what is there is how it came and I didn't touch any of the other map files yet either.

Also, just an fyi in case anyother newbie has the red dot thing happen on the UV map....I looked through google and apparently the red dots are vertices that are pinned? I don't know how I pinned them or when I would have but doing ctrl p removes the dots

Firstly, sorry for the late response lisasims4, i've been so busy recently. Anyway, you're doing everything right, it's just that bottom mesh is hard to work with. I can't really help other than saying that :( And decimate is a modifier in blender which simplifies meshes (lowers polys) but in the process of averages out polys to make 5 polys into 1, it makes the 'topology' (layout of the quads/tris) very messy. Compares the topology in circle 1 (from an ea top body mesh), very neat and easy to work with which means that the UV works well and you can texture it easily. Then in circle 2, the tris are all over the place and also the UV map is so tiny which just makes it even worse. Bonus gif- this is what decimating does if you're still confused So yeah, I'd just suggest next time to frankenmesh only EA meshes (or good CC maker's meshes) if you want to change the texture, but with frankmeshing, unless you edit the UV one mesh might be blurrier than the other. Alternatively you could create your own mesh, it's quite easy C:

Thanks for the reply! and no problem I understand buys! I've been looking at blender tutorials but I really want ruffles and I'm still trying to work out how to do them...It's a bit hard on a laptop with no optical mouse >.> I did finally get a simsfileshare account though so aybe i'll start playing around with EA meshes and see what I come up with
