Greetings from the Art of Magic team We have an exiting development and we would love to hear your thoughts, the art of magic mod is to become a entirely different mod that focuses on magic and adventure, to explain we are hoping to bring in monsters into the game, we already have the focus motive displayed in buffs a whole bunch of spells, but what we want to add is the opportunity to take your sims through dungeons and fight monsters for loot. The StorySomething is in the air, a buzz a tingle sending shivers down your sims spines, it started off small in the hidden places but now rifts have begun to appear in populated civilisation centres, rifts bringing terrors from beyond. Who among the sims is brave enough to thwart the evil that has invaded the world, but be warned some sims seek the new powers of the world and are opening rifts to glean arcane secrets from the other worlds. DetailsThere will be a metric ton of non combat spells (most are implemented already) A group of Elemental attack spells A group of Healing Spells New Magic theory Skill - deals with spell casting and creation Various monster spawners for you to place in build buy to spawn monsters to create your very own dungeons and much much more But what about the art of magic mod

Just to let everyone know we've found a way to split the non combat magic and the magic so that means 2 mods the first will be about magic and will have things like duels, over 50 non combat spells, social interactions . Work is progressing well too, Ill keep you all informed of the 2 mods progress

Wow what a time, ever since the latest patch my games been beyond broken, to fix this Im trying (yet again) a clean install but this time I deleted the download cache. Wish me luck it works, unfortunately all the team has moved onto their own projects now so I'm the only one working on the witches and magic mod, so let me tell you the plan, these things are what I hope to put into the mod...
The Witchcraft Skill - There's 8 levels of this skill and as well as unlocking new spells you also will unlock more spirit energy.
Spirit Energy Motive - This motive will be represented by buffs on your bar, this is so none of the other motives are overridden, also it allows the mod to be compatible with new occult life states. This motive is your basic mana pool and while a level 1 spell costs 10 points and a level 1 witch has 100 points total a level 8 witch has 800 points total.
Witches and Witch Regents - Witches are initiated by witch regents through a ritual, however there are no npc regents the sim you wish to become a regent must read the ancient scrolls, Then with that knowledge they can commune with the dead (gravestone/urn) or ask the blessings of the nature spirits (garden plants), once that is done they can undergo a witch regent transformation ritual. Regents are a special type of witch which lead the covens of the witches, they can cast powerfull rituals that a normal witch doesnt have acess too.
Rituals - The current planed rituals are...
All Souls Night - summon all ghosts from tombstones Ritual of Ageing - Age a sim to elder NEW Awaken Spirit Energy - Sims who are the target of this ritual will become a witch Shun - For the mean or just cross witch regents they can perform a ritual to take a witches powers away, the target witch will become shunned and unable to use their spirit energy to cast spells Reawaken - Target sim will regain their witch powers they lost from being shuned Immortality - the target of this spell will never age (unless directed to with the birthday cake) Original Vampire - Klaus or Elijah anyone, maybe Rebecca, whatever the name the target of this ritual will become one of the most powerful vampires. Youth - only for elder and adult sims - turn back the clock and become a young adult again Limitless Energy - the very lucky recipient witch of this spell will wield a limitless pool of spirit energy, no longer will they need to worry about running out of power Remove Curse - Unlucky sims cursed by witches can have the curse removed with this ritual.
These Rituals will be level locked based on the witchcraft skill, also you will have to undergo a session of communing with the ancestors to learn them.
The Spells... Level 1
Wild Growth - advance a plants life stage Empathy - Same as aliens Brambles - make a plant sprout weeds Witches Familiar - This little guy will whisper secrets to you allowing you to learn all skills faster Soaring Voice - your sims will sound like a chipmunk for the period of the buff this spells applies Rumbling Tone - your sims will have a very deep voice for the duration of the buff this spell applies
Level 2 Bloom - Cause a plant to sprout harvestables Disperse - Water puddles will evaporate when this spell is cast upon them Create water - Creates a puddle Create fire - target a fireplace/bonfire/campfire to light them with magic or just target the ground to spawn a fire Infuse spirit - target appliance electrical device or plumbing to give it magical upgrades. Insect Swarm - Send forth insects to torment a sim Conjure Insects - Summon a bunch of insects to gain a random insect Strengthen - the target of this spell will gain full muscles Weaken - Reverse of the above Curse of Lovers Bane - Target sim will always fail at romantic actions Blessing of Lovers Insight - Target sim will always succeed at romantic actions Arcane blast - Blast away a targets energy buy 50 per blast plus they get a dizzy animation.
Level 3
Wither Weeds - Target plants weeds die Wither - Target plant dies Combust Sim - Sim catches fire (not lethal) Embiggen - Sim gains enormous amounts of weight Athletisie - Sim becomes skinny Purify Body - Sims Illness is magicked away Miasma - make a sim ill Shock - Electrocutes a sim (not lethal) Deep Freeze - Freeze a Sim in Ice Insatiable Hunger - buff that makes a sim constantly want to eat
Level 4
Purge Memories - Sim looses all relationships Curse of Craftsmen Bane - Target sim always fails and crafts poor quality items Blessing of Craftsmen Insight - Target sim always produces high quality work Summon elementals - summons 1 type of elemental - Water/cleans Air/Repairs Earth/Gardens Fire/Cooks Raise Spirit - target and urn or gravestone to summon the ghost of the sim Irresistible call - target sim is forced to come to the current lot
Level 5
Conjure Sustenance - Summons the chosen food Transmute Crystal - Crystal is turned into another crystal Transmute Metal - Metal is turned into another metal Bounty of the earth - Spawns a crystal/geode/metal Earth Quake - Summons an earthquake Flare - Summons a random firework Lore of the Wilds - Gain the plant sim Buff Tone Change - target sim receives a random skin colour
Level 6
Doppelganger - Summon a clone of a sim Creeping cold - Slowly freeze sims around you Hiss of Sleep - Puts all sims to sleep around the caster Arcane Body - Hunger/energy/bladder/hygiene don't deplete for duration of spell
Level 7
Siren Song - Sing a song that boosts the relationship of all nearby sims Spirit Walk - Like the ghost form potion from get to work Absorb Knowledge - Transfer a skill from the target to the caster Gift Knowledge - Transfer skill points from the caster to the target Stasis - Put a sim in stasis (their stats do not decay they don't age but they cant move either) Spirit Barrier - Sims receives a buff they cannot die
Level 8
Absorb Spirit Energy - target witch transfers spirit energy to the caster Resurrect - Target Ghost Is Resurrected Enscorl - Gain temporary control of a sim Dimension Gate - open a portal to the alien world Gift Spirit Energy - transfers energy from the caster to the target Spell Barrier - caster cant be effected by negative spells for the duration of the buff
Not only unlocking new spells the witchcraft skill unlocks a few new interactions like duelling and atonement...
Atonement - 2 witch regents face off the loser of the fight loses their witch regent status and also becomes shuned
Duel - 2 witches face of in magic combat the loser is struck unconscious
Finally at level 8 witchcraft the caster will be able to teach a lower level witch the skill.

What do you plan to do to raise the witch skill are you going to have a spell book that we could read, and gain the skill from.

To raise the witch skill witches will have to commune with the ancestors at the ancestors altar, Also, casting spells raises the skill. Just had an idea so witches learn spells by writing in their grimores, also can gain xp this way

Progress Update - Been messing around with a new animation, its hopefully flashy enough for magic, working on the rituals, changes to the list are rather than undergoing a ritual to learn witch regency you have to now ask a ghost about the spirit realm and they might bless you with regency if your relationship is higher than 50 if its below 50 prepared to be chewed out lol. yep my game seems to be functioning correctly now thanks.

Progress update, UGH object tags are not working for the target super affordances function Which means I cant get half the spells on the list to work, because of this I'm waiting till next patch to see if they work again. This means production has ground to a holt for now sorry to say. On the upside all core features are now implemented and working, that means the skill/motives/Base Rituals/Base Interactions/animations are all done, the package is very large already its a nightmare to scroll through the xmls looking for a particular one lol.

Basically for example the gardening tags in the wild growth spell allow me to point to any and all plants without listing them individually which also works for modded plants (if they are tagged properly) and game updates. I'm not abandoning the mod just waiting for the next update, if they haven't fixed things Ill just have to go with listing the items individually. I suppose I could work on the target sim spells, because they still work
