I just patched my game and after checking out the new items we got in today's patch, I loaded Studio so I could make an override to the new mirror to make it moveable on the wall, but none of the items show up. Does Studio have to be updated for today's patch to access the new free content?
The last items that show up for the Base Game are the free items added with the toddler patch, below that are empty spaces with Sims 4 icons where today's items should be.

I don't know for sure which items you mean, but after the game is updated, you must re-start s4s and it will reload the game files.

Here's a screenshot of what I see in Studio right now: Full SizeThose blank spaces you see are from content added in today's patch. I was actually able to figure out which item was what and make the override I wanted, which is working fine, but this is very peculiar. I've had Studio open several times this evening, because I had to update some mods I've made for myself - plus, I've been using it since 2015 (even though I never post here), so I know the basics of how things work post-patch. delete the sims 4 studio folder in documents and restart s4s, it will re-index the files

I just tried what you said MisterS and unfortunately that didn't work. I already uninstalled Studio and reinstalled it earlier this evening. That didn't work either. Very strange. I was able to extract tuning files to update my mods just fine; this is the only problem I've run into.
The override and items themselves work just fine in the game, but it seems strange that their thumbnails don't show up correctly in Studio (like I mentioned, I just had to click through and guess to get to the item I wanted).
Thank you both for your help though.

I just saw the patch hit too :P I hope this didn't break super affordances more (HORROR) because that would mean I have to go into the mod I'm making and....blah blah blah....which as you can see is an major annoyance on the other hand they might have fixed object tags hopefully, (PLEASE LET OBJECT TAGS BE FIXED). lol

There's an object tag issue?
On topic, have you actually run the game and viewed the objects prior to looking for them in Studio yet? My understanding was that Studio pulled the thumbnails from the game files and if you haven't looked at the opbjects in game yet then there won't be any thumbnails for Studio to use. I've not actually checked this for myself though. Just posting it while I think of it.

I guess I wasn't clear: I went in-game and then saw what overrides I wanted to make, exited, opened Studio and found blank thumbnails. I managed to muddle my way through and find what I needed, made the overrides and they work correctly. The issue is only blank thumbnails. Someone else has already stated there are blank thumbnails for the patch items in Harmony and Wishes. I don't use Harmony since it's outdated for the most recent packs. It would be helpful if someone in charge of updating Studio could take a look at this thread and verify what's going on with Studio.

There's several items that lack thumbnails (some debug ones) but you can still see what they are by hovering them and seeing the name code. This isn't really a S4S issue since the program probably grabs the thumbnails from the same routes so maybe this items have different paths and codes. If S4S isn't broken then this isn't a reason to be updating the program for every little thing. That's my reason and my opinion, so if they have the time to do it they will.

To clear the air: If EA did not make thumbnails for the objects then they will not show up in studio until a member of the team goes into the game, generates and saves them, then passes them on to the development team to be included in the next update.

@wj I apologize if my earlier statement wasn't clear. What I meant was that as an end user you will not be able to see the thumbnails nor code until they are added to the index by the development team. This happens with every patch or expansion/pack release, EA changes and/or adds things. Some things they changed in the past have actually broken the tool so bad that it just stopped working for the end user. At this point in time the development team is working on other things to maintain functionality and add options to increase usability. I understand that things like this are annoying. Please be aware that adding these thumbnails may be on the list, but it is not a high priority. One workaround that may work (not tested) is to copy the localthumbcache.package into the Studio/Mods folder after you look at the new items. Let us know if that works for you.

Like brujah said above, if EA doesn't include the thumbnails in the game, we have to manually add them to Studio in order for them to show up without being in the cache. We have stopped doing this since EA has started to include thumbnails for patches and DLC. They have now even included ones that we previously had to create manually, and we have since removed the manually created thumbnails to reduce Studio's file size. This patch is an exception to what EA has done in recent patches. Studio will load thumbnails from the thumbnail cache if the game generates one. But the game does not generate and save all thumbnails by default. Hairs for example will only save the thumbnail for the first color. I loaded the patched game and viewed one of the hairs in CAS. Studio, as expected, was able to display the thumbnail for the first color of it, but the game does not under normal circumstances generate thumbnails for the other colors of a hair. This is not a bug, but it is something that can be improved upon if EA does not provide thumbnails in an update as they have done in the past. If you are not seeing the name of an item when you move your mouse cursor over it, make sure that your mouse cursor is over the pack icon. Also, you can use the search to locate patch content. Free patch content is usually named EF## where the ## are the number EA associates with the free content release. In this patch, EF06 is the CAS content and EF07 is the buy/build content.

brujah - Just did as you mentioned. I added the localthumbcache.package file into the S4S Mods Folder and now the new objects show with thumbs and code. Thank you very much for your very helpful workaround. This worked for me as well. Thank you, brujah and Andrew for your help - much appreciated!
