Hello, I decided that I want mermaid furniture in the game and decided to start with the biggest item in the set: the bed. I've made a mesh from the ground up, fused the blanket mesh from an EA bed into it to hopefully save myself some trouble down the road and now I'm running into an interesting issue. Image hereAnd I don't really know where to go from here, to be honest. I've been at this for 2 days using every tutorial I can find (including the amazing ones on here, super helpful). I'll link the blender files, see what you guys can make of it, tell me where I went wrong. I plan on adding more things to this if possible as variants but I figured I should be able to get it into the game before I try to go all out with it haha www.dropbox.com/s/2aeg39fr4akad94/Mermaid%20Bed%20Combined.blend?dl=0www.dropbox.com/s/w2ij2tmo0b5ljk4/Mermaid%20Bed.blend?dl=0www.dropbox.com/s/l0pytk6la92wa7s/Mermaid%20bed.package?dl=0The first 2 are the 2 blender files I was using (one with everything combined into 3 meshes and the other with everything separated as I designed) and then the .package file. Let me know if I need to throw in anything else, thank you!

hi! I'm on my phone right now but you should export the original EA mesh and compare the group names (and cut numbers) with your blend. looks like you've mixed those. for example mesh 0 is the shadow plane.

Ah, thanks I didn't even notice haha It's fixed now. Just gotta figure out the shadow thing and the uh rigging, I think. Thanks again, I'll be sure to ask if I have any more questions!

Alrighty, so I went through all that mess, popped on some baked shadows, gave it shadow meshes and wasn't sure what to do from there so I threw it in game to see what would happen and it did this wonky thing. Imgur hereHere's the drop box for the package file: www.dropbox.com/s/n9gbaqqki9jou6w/Mermaid%20bed.package?dl=0I didn't mess with rigging so I assumed they wouldn't be able to use it because I also need help figuring that out. First issue, though, is why did the mesh that I create change colors and how can I fix it? I appreciate your time.

Your top image is the wrong size, its 1450x1450, it has to be the power of 2
64x64 128x128 256x256 512x512 1024x1024
The rigging, did you mess with the mattress at all ?

Ah, I'll fix that image problem and I didn't remove anything from the mattress, the only thing that seems missing is the modifier it had but I'm not sure why that is. The original has a modifier for an armature, I do remember it being there at one point with the name box being red. It is like that on the shadow layer s4studio_mesh_2, however. An armature modifier with a red name, I don't know what that means, though. I did delete the random rig and bone layers that tagged along with the mattress in the beginning; should I copy those back over?
I forgot to mention that I can't place it anywhere, either. In those screenshots I used MOO to put it down. Is that happening for the same reason why my sims can't use it?

You should not touch the mattress at all, your best bet is to re clone the bed, and append your mesh to the mattress, it will take like 5 minutes compared to endless messing around

Ah, okay I'll do that real fast. I resized the texture file and it didn't alter what it turns into in game. Is there something else I should try? Also made an edit hoping to catch you but I can't place the bed. I used MOO in that screenshot. Is this happening for the same reason why my sims can't use it? Image Link again with a "what it's supposed to look like" pic Edit: Went in and copied the mattress from the original file and pasted it into my other file (that used to be the original before I remodeled) and it didn't change anything. I'm quite lost haha (The new package file) www.dropbox.com/s/na9ojmh2rriwfru/Mermaid%20bed.package?dl=0

You cant place the bed because it is sitting to low, both he mesh and the shadow plane needs to be above the red line in blender The texture looks fine in game for me apart from what is prolly the bump and spec, I just lifted the mesh up and put it in game. Thats outside though, I didnt lift the shadow plane high enough so it wouldnt go inside only outside. Get the mesh high enough to sit inside (it can be too high for testing purposes) and see if that then makes any difference to your texture problem (probably wont but one thing at a time) You have doubled up your shadow plane to btw.

Okay I'll just flatten the bottom I suppose so it's still the same level that regular beds are. As for the texture, I honestly don't know then haha You've seen how it turns out in my game so I guess I'll just have to fiddle with it. I didn't notice the shadow plane, whoops! I've been basically working on this nonstop so my eyes are growing pretty tired. I'll update again once I've made the adjustments.

Progress!Flattening the bottom was the issue about placement, thank you haha So now we're down to 2 more issues: sims still can't use the bed and I'm having a weird bump map going on and not sure where it's coming from. As a note, I had went back to the original file and replaced the frame with my new mesh, set aside the one I was working from and a completely new original file basically. All the rigging, modifiers and everything is from the original bed. Here's the new package www.dropbox.com/s/woisfk118qnfymu/Mermaid%20bed.package?dl=0

The not getting into bed issue is the footprint, they cant get past the shell bit. I came up with a fix but the will clip the shell on the way through, dunno if there is much that can be done about that. The weird bump issue is just that, the bump (and spec) To fix the footprint issue. Clone a rug that is 3x2 (the 3rd one is s4s is 3x2). In the warehouse export the footprint (not batch export just export) then open up your bed, click on footprint and import it in. ^^^^^read my reply before doing this step^^^^^To fix the bump/spec also in the warehouse look for these two files They are the ones for the frame/shell, you need to make the bump the same flat grey as it is and the spec completely black, you need to do the alpha too Imma going to try something else with the footprint

Edit - Ignore the rug footprint, do the exact same thing but just export the footprint from a double bed, just do not hit the update footprint button. The will still clip the shell but my first fix allowed the sims to walk straight through the whole thing.

EVEN MORE PROGRESSElizabeth is now sleeping comfortably! Yeah, they clip through the edge when they first get in but I'm not really concerned about it haha Now I just have to readjust my uv maps for the pearls again... they're so frustrating haha thank you so much for the help, I'll definitely remember what I've learned here and refer back to it for the rest of the furniture ^w^
