I've recently cloned a child's costume and made it for the toddler BUT in game my thumbnail is all stretched out, like it's deformed. Everything else was working fine, It looks fine in game etc BUT I can't upload a package to the public with the thumbnail looking like that.
I've noticed that every CAS outfit in the toddler section has NO thumbnail, Could this be why it is doing that?
EDIT: I just went into every section of studio and I noticed there are NO thumbnails for anything from CAS to build.... was it like this? I can't remember. Using the latest updated version 3.1.0.2 Wishes if that helps

I'm embarrassed to post this pic lol but anyway. I've made a toddlers raccoon outfit as I needed one but the thumbnail looks like this in CAS and in the save pics. As you can see the outfit is fine in game, it moves OK and I don't see any problems BUT why would the thumbnail look like that. It looks horrendous! What i did was use a toddler mesh in blender and then append the childs raccoon outfit that I resized from the adult one and then appended the childs bear costume too so I could get the sizes rightly scaled for the toddler but now I don't know which append to join to which or which to delete. Hope that makes sense.

I don't know what lod the game renders thumbnails from, but I've noticed that if custom mesh contains extra bones that don't exist in original mesh (the one that you cloned to import custom mesh) this can happen. Let's say you cloned some overall, it will have all necessary vertex groups except chin, mouth and any face bones. And most likely you have those vertex groups in raccoon suit. Sometimes lower lods have different amount of bones than LOD0. This is more like a personal observation than 100% explanation or solution.

I went and had a look at the bones and you are right, I see the raccoon outfit has bones that the PJ outfit doesn't, like nostril etc. How would I go about fixing that? Do I have to add those to the Main mesh, being the PJ one?

I don't know if there is a solution in this case. Normally you need to clone the mesh with the same vertex groups as in your custom mesh, meaning that it should be costume with face mask. I don't remember if there is anything like this in the game. If there is nothing like this in the game then I don't know if there is a solution. I think chin vertex groups needed if you want to see an animated head. If you don't need an animated head than compare 2 meshes (the one that you cloned and your CC mesh) and delete all extra groups from custom mesh, normalize weights, try in the game.

Hmmm, yes, as yet there are no toddler outfits like that available, that's probably why the child's outfit turned out fine because there is a bear outfit for them which I used for the raccoon outfit, when I made a raccoon outfit for a child. It drives me nuts because it works fine in game but the thumbnail does that! I can't upload this to the public when it looks like that. I've had to abandon how many projects because of the textures or the UV not working!
Thanks for your help.

Hi kymscreations , In my game, it was not just the thumbnail, it was showing like that in CAS too. I tried what Feyona suggested, removing the vertex groups that don't belong (like breast bones, face bones) and normalizing the weights again, and it worked for me. This is the thumbnail generated by the game after fixing it:

Yes, it was showing in CAS like that and on the thumbnail in game. Do I just go to the vertex groups in blender and delete those and then use the tutorial I found on here to apply weight paint? Sorry I'm not familiar with vertex groups. I have no idea what to do what you suggested lol. I do thank you andrew and Feyona SO much for all your help. I'm learning something new everyday!
