This mini tutorial will show you how to change a shader using Sims 4 Studio.
To change the shader:
1. Clone your item and click the Warehouse tab.
2. Click the first GEOM line. 3. Find the Shader line on the right and click the dropdown menu arrow. 4. Select the shader you wish to use from the list.
5. Repeat for each GEOM line and then Save your .package.

What happens when we change the data from the shader modifiers from 1 to lets say 2? Didn't quite understand its use of editing that.

The result of changing a shader modifier depends on which shader modifier you change and how much. My experience of them comes from Sims 3 so I can't be more specific about these because I have really studied them.

I really need help I've been making an accessory top, and I want it to be transparent I've changed meshes shader to simglass and it is conflicting with hair :( it seems it only conflicts with the hair that uses simglass shader instead simskin (I tried changing hair's shader to simskin and it worked perfectly) Can be anything done?

Hi beverlyallit, welcome to Studio forums. The SimGlass shader was designed by EA to provide a glass effect for sunglasses and things of that sort. It was not meant to be used for hair and clothes. For this reason, when used for hair and clothes it often has less than optimal results. You might try fiddling around with the shader parameters but tbh I don't know if that will help much as I've never worked much with this shader myself.

I found a way out you can try another shader, if you don't mind grayscale. I chose SimGhost shader, the top stayed transparent and not conflicting with hair

Hi, guys! I was trying to create alpha hair when I faced this trouble. In the simskin shader everything looks fine but obviously there is no alpha:( and when I chose simglass it looks this way... If anyone faced such trouble before - please help! I checked almost everything. Mesh assigned only to the b__Head__ bone. And every geom numbers I took right from the base game mesh. Sorry if I wrote it to the wrong theme, I simply don't know where else can I ask about it.

ivanlenny this looks like transparency issues. Laracroft wrote a tutorial on how to fix it and it's here in the forum. I'm on my phone right now and I can't link it. But you can find it easily in the full index of tutorials by "fix transparency issues " Edit, the tutorial is here

It wasn't quite "transparency issues" though. I'm not actually sure what it was, but it's somehow connected to the glass shader and same trouble can be discovered when you make glass objects. Soooo... how I managed this! I just separated mesh "by the loose parts" in blender and then merged it all again (carefully) and that's all:) Mesh was fixed... Then I realized that mesh was too dreadful to represent it as a new hair, but it's a different story any way:D Thank's again!
