this is probably because you didn't add any additional LOD. very easy fix. look at this tutorial for how to do that

i don't believe hair needs the head mesh.. for clothes, such as a shirt or dress, you would need the body mesh, but you don't need that for hair. disregard anything it says about the body and just decimate your mesh 50% per LOD.

ok let's start over. there are 3 LOD. LOD 0, LOD 1, and LOD 2. they're important because when you zoom out in game, it switches each LOD. they're supposed to be a lesser quality than your LOD 0, which is the main mesh. all that should be in your blender file is a rig and your hair mesh. if you have anything else, go ahead and delete it because it's not necessary. decimate your hair mesh 50% for LOD 1. then take that new mesh you made and import it into LOD 1. then decimate that mesh again by 50%. then put that in for LOD 2.

When you export hairs or accessories, you don't get any body parts. (you might have some loose pieces of skin border in some hairs).
What you see in edit mode is the geometry that your mesh group has. The model that you see of the hair and the other body parts are only there you guide you on how it's going to look. That doesn't get imported.
