I have two problems with some CC! One is that, with some items, when I try to place them, they are red and say, "This object is missing its footprint source" or something. Then a few others say "script failed." I know S4S has two batch fixes for mirrors and lights, but those are usually the only things that give me the script failed message! So when other items do it, I'm like... WHAAAAT?! XD Are there ways I can fix these two issues?

Hi! Can you tell us specifically what items are giving you trouble? Have you checked if they require a mesh or a certain object to work? Were they working fine previously? Can you share the packages?

O_O Well, it's not like I've written them down or anything! But if I recall, some of your stuff does it! I mean, I'd have to open my game and literally attempt to place every single item I have on a lot to make note of which ones it's happening to!

My stuff? lol. Well i haven't done a LOT, but i haven't done little either. That really doesn't help either. Specially saying "cc". Care you reduce that into.. category? sofas? chairs? decorative?. There's not really a way to help without knowing the cc you're having issues with as i said before. Check the latest version of S4S and see the new batch fixes.

Hi candyjay, there are two basic issues that could be affecting CC in the game. The first is, as inabadromance said, the situation that arises when you try to use an item that is dependent on another item but that other item is not in your game files. The second is an item that used to work but now doesn't work because of the patch. Items like this can be one of two types. The first is the type that, like beds and sofas, were broken as a group by changes EA made to an entire category of item. The second is broken on a case-by-case basis because the creator used unusual methods to make it and those methods have been rendered incompatible with function by changes in the game. Each of those situations needs to be handled differently. In the first case, all you need to do is figure out what item the non-functional item depends on and put that item into your game files. The second type can be batch-fixed as the sofas and beds can be. The last type will require removing the file from your game until the creator updates it. That type should be reported to the person who made it so they know there is a problem. It's difficult to say which of those issues is causing a problem without knowing what the object is that's giving you trouble.

The thing is, when I don't have an item in game needed for another item, those items won't show up, that's how it's always been. Also, this has all been before the patch, so this has nothing to do with the new EP. I can't exactly put it into categories if I can't remember which ones are causing problems! XD I just thought that I'm probably not the first one to have this problem, especially with something as specific as "this object is missing its footprint source." I don't know how footprints work! >_< I guess I'll try going in game and find every item that does these two things. The batch fixes that fix lights and mirrors fix the "tuning," which gets rid of the "script failed" message for those. Jeez! Why can't technology just work perfectly all the time?! LOL

Recolors of objects can be made so they require the original item for the recolor to show up. Those recolors will appear in the object catalog and can be purchased. They will not allow themselves to be placed, however, because they do not have a footprint resource. Objects must have a footprint resource for placement. Script call failures can occur under several different circumstances, so it's difficult to say exactly why that is happening without knowing which item it is that's causing the error.

Like I said, it's not a recolor issue. For instance, inabadromance, I'm in game right now, and I see that both your Bramble Patch Tent and Rock Cave Tent give "script failed" messages. I get the "no footprint" message with some S3 to S4 converted couches by loverat, and a chair called "Wm_Poolsessel," another conversion by MXIMS at simzoo. I think I have a pillow that does the same thing from that same place.

You can check the items that are giving the no footprint error by looking in the Warehouse: If they don't have this resource, that explains why you are getting the error. The most common reason for that problem is that the item is a recolor.

I digged through my dropbox folder and this is the cave you mention. It is base game, and it has a footprint. And it's linked correctly on its definition string. I'm not sure if this is the time where we used to put all 0 on the template key. cc orangemittens EDIT: It's not base game, since the tuning is from the tents which come from outdoor retreat. Do you have that ep? If yes, was it working fine before or did you just downloaded it?

I just downloaded the Rock Cave Tent, and it's working fine for me. candyjay, have you tried removing all other content to see if the Rock Tent will work if it's in your Mods folder by itself?

I don't have outdoor retreat, so that might be it. It's weird though, I've downloaded plenty of furniture from packs I don't have so they show up when I eventually get them. I've never had items from a different game show up before if I didn't have it. O_O Also, checking these "tents" without any other mods most likely wouldn't produce different results because the problem is the tuning, right?
So, I get if something is a recolor for the "no footprint" problem, but what if it's a conversion, as seems the case with these? I've never run into a problem like this for conversions because you're not required to have that original mesh, especially since I don't have TS3.

You know, i was a little lost at first because i didn't remember about my cave.. so i just looked on my dropbox instead. Now looking back at it, i remember i didn't upload it but budgie did and she didn't wrote that Outdoor Retreat was required as i usually point out with my downloads. Sorry about that! Particularly with my tent, removing other mods isn't going to fix it as it uses the tuning from other EP.
As for the others, you have to specifically look through/for each one and see if they require anything else or if they need an update after the current patch. Conversions don't require anything, UNLESS the person cloned an item that isn't base game. Each creator should note down in their downloads the requirements if any.
If what OM posted above about the different things that broke after the patch doesn't match with the items you're having issues then you have to look individually for them like i mentioned before.
Since this isn't custom content creation related, i'm moving this into discussions.

That makes sense, I downloaded tons of things from budgie!
