Not OP, but the tip with using the ring as the base mesh and apend the headband mesh to it works! For the textures you just need to delete the hair parts in Photoshop or Gimp and you're good to go (and you can change the category from ring to hat so it shows up there). Here as an example is the solid purple headband for the black hair on the light brown hair: i.imgur.com/5x4Mu3V.pngThe only thing I haven't figured out yet is, though, why the texture looks a bit different from the original.

I just did this and it worked!! The texture for me looks the same(unless I’m not looking hard enough)

Hi! Firstly, I hope I am posting in the right spot. I loved the updo from cats and dogs but wish I could take the headband off and use it as a "hat" or even "accessory" so I could have all the colors/patterns from every hair color. I was wondering if there were tutorials on here I missed or could someone explain how to. I'm still limited on knowledge of blender but I was able to remove it and the textures but was lost after I opened my game and there was still textures of the hair Edit: imgur.com/a/AgeWn this is how it looks in blender and sims 4 studio imgur.com/a/wDv0Y this is how it looks in game. The Bangs are showing because I have the hair selected with the 'hat" on but i'm talking about the hair mesh/texture under the headband and how to remove that an be able for the "hat" to go over the headband on the original hair so I can change it to whatever color, I hope this makes sense Hi, so ... it's very simple. You import your mesh and texture into a ring or bracelet and then change the category from your item to the hat. THANK YOU SO MUCH! You’re an absolutely life saver! I used the bracket mesh instead of a head mesh and it worked!! Thank you so much!
