Hi there.
Can someone please tell me how do I remove the normal map completely from an object. I want to remove some of the details in in Vault Modular Counter because I've added a wicker texture and I don't want EA's showing through. When I recolor it to a grey or black or purple or blue or whatever color you can think of all it does is put ugly grey shadows on my object.
I have looked at tutorials on here but I either don't understand or don't know what to look for.

Oh wow I'm such an airhead sometimes! I googled for something and came across your tutorial OM. I now remember I used those blank bumps, spec a long time ago. It sorted my problem out. Thank you!

hi! in my opinion you should not remove any texture (either bump maps or specular). you have to export the current ones, edit them and import them back. specially for CAS, removing one of these will cause the item to pick up the textures missing from another object your sim is wearing at the same time.

Thanks. This was for the Vault Modular counters. I tried editing the bump map but don't know how to.

You export the bumpmap as .dds just like any other texture. Open it on your image editor and modify both main channel and alpha to fit your new mesh. Then save as .dds dxt5 with alpha.

Have you solved your problem? Is there anything in particular you're having trouble with?

No problem! i was just curious if you managed to do it properly i'm glad! If you ever want to close a thread because you found the solution or the fix that ppl give you was the correct one, you can edit your first post and put [Solved] at the end of the title

Oh thanks, am never sure how to do that. Also sometimes RL can be hectic so you don't always have time to try out the fix straight away. Thanks for fixing that for me and for your help.

No problem! I'm never bothered from closing the threads. But some people get curious about it and don't know that they can do it themselves too
