I want to edit buffs and Needs gains from food and coffee, so I was wondering what I need to use to accomplish this and make it into a functioning mod? I would also like to know how to properly package a mod for distribution to other users so that they can also enjoy them.
I was told to come here for help, so I was wondering if any of you have any ideas on what I should do?

Hey Qwerty, to edit buffs and need gains for food and drinks you will have to make a tuning-mod. To get a basic understanding of how tuning-mods work, please refer to this thread, scroll down to the Object Tuning Tutorials section and have a look at the tutorials listed there. To edit the need gain and buffs for a food or drink, you will have to edit the specific object's object tuning. Buffs are generally added in the affordance_tuning entry of the components section while the need gain is regulated in the consume_affordance. If you take a look at the object_Food_GummyBearPancake (the object tuning of the Gummy Bear Pancakes - obviously), you will see that eating the pancakes will make the game run a loot action, loot_Buff_FoodBuffs_Playful, for your sim. The loot action then determines which special buff the sim gets from the food. In case of the Gummy Bear Pancakes your sim will get a higher buff if the pancakes have a better quality. A little further down in the mentioned consume_affordances you will see <V t="statistic_change"> <U n="statistic_change"> <T n="amount">175</T> <T n="stat">16656<!--motive_Hunger--></T> <L n="tests"> <L> <V t="trait"> <U n="trait"> <L n="blacklist_traits"> <T>162668<!--trait_PlantSim--></T> </L> </U> </V> </L> </L> </U> </V> Which basically means that eating the pancakes will raise the hunger motive by 175 points. Generally full meals give 175 points while snacks only give about 75. If you take a look at this portion of code for different drinks and food you will see how other needs (thirst, bladder, Vampire-thirst) and such are modified by them. If you scroll a little further still you'll find a line that specifies the consumption_turns of your food or drink, basically the number of sips or bites a sim takes of the food. Usually this is 4 for snacks and drinks and 6 for full meals. If you have any further questions, just ask, but please read the above mentioned tutorials first. ~Anska
