I looked at your item and I've looked all through EA items too. I could not find a single bumpy looking texture on the EA items that wasn't the result of a bumpy diffuse...in some cases the item didn't even have a bump at all. I applied your bump to your diffuse and it looks like this in the game: So I think Es and MisterS are correct...the bump is only going to complement the diffuse image for objects...it cannot actually replace a lack of bumpiness drawn onto it. It's really odd that I couldn't find one single really good example of a rusty item in the EA items...has anyone else spotted one?

That actually looks really good, although I'd probably want the bumps to be larger. So how did you "apply" the bump to the diffuse? Just layer it on in Photoshop? I noticed that in your version the bulbs lost their transparency though.
There seems to be a general lack of "weathered" textures in TS4 at this moment. The most "beaten up" object seem to only have two or three little spots of paint chipping.

My version was a complete re-do to first see if it was the item itself causing the problem. I looked at the original EA item in game and wasn't that impressed with how its bump came out looking so I wanted to rule that out as the root cause. This was cloned on a different lamp that does display its bump pretty well and I just transferred your lamp main mesh without working on the bulb part at all since I wasn't worried about that part. The bump alone still came in very smooth. Next I looked for an EA item that had a similar texture to what I think you're aiming for and, to my surprise, I couldn't find one. I also noticed that, at least for objects, EA seems to be relying more on diffuse than on bump to give things a rough surface. That's when I took your bump and layered it directly on top of your diffuse using Paint.NET. Then I just backed off on the opaqueness. Probably you could get an even better result with PS than I can using PDN

Ah I see. Thanks for looking into it anyway. I will likely just add some bumps onto the diffuse then.

Image search for metal textures and find one that has marks/dents/scratches on it and use that for for the diffuse and the bump

Your bump came out looking great...it just needs to be moved upward a little so it lines up with the garment.

I think you just need to move the whole bump part upward on the image.

Hi sims4orlane, I've looked at your bump and it is too low on the image. This picture shows the original EA bump and your bump placed on the same image. As you can see your bump is placed lower on the image. You need to slide it up so it occupies the same space on the bump map as EA's bikini bump occupies. Then it will appear in the right place on the Sim in the game: Sorry to have take so long to get back to you...your PM got lost in my PM bin.
