You need to make seams and unwrap as you would do with any mesh of any kind. Make sure the seams are not as noticeable and that the textures don't stretch. You can extract a texture from an EA hair and make your own to try it based on it. I'd recommend you watch some Unwrapping tutorials online to get the idea if you're loss with it. I don't know what you mean in the way like "any other maxis hair". Can you explain a little more? Also, if you need more help please share the .blend file. It's hard to show just from a picture.

thanks for the reply! i mean like how they unwrap each like big chunk of what resembles a certain thick strand. i was wondering if i had to really go through the process of marking every strand or if there was some magical way to do it here's the blend file

From what I know you would have to manually unwrapp it. No magic tricks :P. But since CAS is not my best I might be wrong. Maybe somebody else knows a better way.

@pierae , there is no magic feature for unwrapping uv in blender. Actually it's one of the most difficult programs to unwrap with. I just recommend checking for youtube tutorials. There is an addon uv squares that's included in Blender 2.76, so check instructions on how to use it, it can be very helpful when mapping hairs. Also there is just a cube in your WIP.blend.

3DS Max is easier to unwrap with but still there is no magic button. It needs a lot of work and a lot of watching tutorials about unwrapping.
