I'm also having a weird shadow issue with a table I made. Inside it seems fine... but outside it gets weird depending on the angle. I checked the meshes, everything looks like its labeled as sharp or edge split and flat shaded. I've looked at the tutorials here... not sure what is meant by the shadow UV "overlapping"? But maybe thats my problem... Inside:

Hello SimmerKate , To fix it, follow my steps I described above. Jack, which posted right above your post quoted those steps I made too.
There are some steps missing I think... I can't click through as you have described.

Thank you... that filled in a couple blanks. But dang... that is a lot of work! I hope I don't have to do it for all my stuff!!
This didn't fix my mesh issue, but it did work for one of my favorite TV downloads!! I think mine is something different...

I think yours is a different issue as well. Perhaps best to start a new thread for that one.

When I replaced the one you have with a blank one, the shadows went away in game. You need to create a proper one or replace it with a blank one (a "blank' specular is black in all channels). You can find a blank normal and specular HERE.

Well, I followed the steps in the tutorial HERE first, but that didn't totally fix the problem. It may be that you need to do both? I should have mentioned that as well.

Hi szanne7000 You can manually fix this in The Sims 4 Studio by going to: Model > Medium/Low DetailFlags > Meshes on the right > Click Edit items > On the right side scroll down to "Material" Under that you will find "Entries". Click Edit items again. For both VarientID's click on "Edit Items" again on the right side. On the left side, change SSAOIntensity 1.000 to 0. To do this click that line on the left, on the right change value 1 to 0. It IS a lot of work to change it for all of the objects that have this problem, but it does work. I dont know if its me or if S4S has updated changing some of this, but none of these prompts seem to be there. I opened the item and clicked on Model, there as no "Meshes" on the right. So, I clicked on one of the Model LOD and the "Meshes" button was there but as far as anything else, I was unable to find it. Now, it may just be my newness causing issues. I know that a lot of beginner tutorials assume that people have knowledge they dont so maybe thats it. Maybe I should know where the Model Medium/Low choice is, but I dont and cant easily find it. Again, maybe S4S has updated changing some of these choices. I dont know, Im just confused. Here Any help would be greatly appreciated! Here is a link to My Item

ibb.co/HXK1z3yThe link you put to your item doesn't work, but it's the same for any object, it should be like this - video. You probably need to do it for any phong and phongalpha meshes, and any material variants.
