arcadia, if you use the wider wall sizes for your mural they will not work correctly when the player changes the wall height. The EA reps said that this is the way that wide wall works so it isn't the best choice for a mural wall. A better way is to use a normal wall and change it's tiling using s4pe. I can post a mini tut on how to do that if that would be helpful. In the future S4S will allow you to change the tiling but, for now, s4pe is the only tool that will do it. No worries saratella, it's very early in the game and everyone is still figuring things out. Of interest to people who make wall recolors is that walls which don't have the correct image sizes appear to not work in some player's games. Specifically, it seems the images must be sized in a power of two and they should not exceed EA's largest wall image size. The way that Simension shows how to make wall images is the correct way and walls made this way should work in every player's game.

Sure orangemittens, it would be great if you could but not to worry if it's too much trouble, I would rather have them as large paintings (objects) that can be placed on a wall - saying that it would be useful to know how to change the tiling of a normal wall tile using s4pe No rush though BTW that's great news that S4S will incorporate this in the future, very handy tool.

It is important to note here that Studio now allows you to swap bump and spec images for walls. You will no longer need to use s4pe for this purpose.

After reading these helpful tips on creating walls using S4S...I think I will give it a go! I have been using Wallez (and have shared several sets), and although I like it and it is simple to use...I really want to try it this way.
Thank you orangemittens, Simension...and everyone for all the support and help you have given XOXO

I'm glad you've decided to try Studio. It can do more for you than Wallez does especially for special projects like walls that have bumps/speculars and auto-corner walls. If you run into questions please don't hesitate to ask

I am really struggling on making my texture tileable while cutting it to 768. Any suggestions? It is a stone wall and I cant cut it anywhere to make the edges match up but make the middle match up to.

I think that's a matter of touching things up once you have the edges seamless. I found this tutorial for GIMP that might have some helpful ideas: LINK

I am really struggling on making my texture tileable while cutting it to 768. Any suggestions? It is a stone wall and I cant cut it anywhere to make the edges match up but make the middle match up to. I always make a 256x256 pattern for anything thing I will use to create walls etc. in the Sims. This way I can tile the pattern any way I like.

I am so happy you posted this simension ! It is a lot of help but for some reason I think I must be doing it wrong because my wall I'm trying to make isn't working out. I can't figure out where I'm going wrong and was wondering if you or someone would have the time to assist me? I want to make a no-trim version of the 'Brickwall' that came with Get Together. I use Photoshop for my editor. Ok, this has been my recent approach: It's a wider wall so I use for instance, the 1024x1280 for the tall part of the wall. I've made a new canvas of that size and I used the wall pattern of the brick and just kept pasting it and adding it to the canvas until it fills up the entire canvas. Then I resize that to the 1024x1024 size but when import that to the studio it is super squished. I haven't gotten this far yet because this hasn't worked but from what I understand after the tallest wall is good then I am supposed to crop out of the 1024x1280 to 1024x1024 for the medium wall then resize that to the 512x512, correct? Do I need a larger texture so when it 'shrinks' it does it to the correct size in game? I just am not understanding what I am doing wrong, and maybe I'm not reading the directions correctly too, I have no idea! Oh my I hope this makes sense...

Hi simspellwhen you simply edit an existing wall a little - as in remove the trim - you don't have to resize anything. I just looked at the wall you mentioned and when I export it the diffuse of the tall version of that wall is 512x512 in size and if I simply re-import it at exactly that size it looks just fine in S4S too. The creation measurements (e.g. 1024x1280) are for such occaisons when you want to creat a new wall from scratch - say from a nice wallpaper pattern you found somewhere. The walls used in the game are already squished to fit, they don't need any further squishing.

anska Oh man I was making it way harder than what it is haha! Thank you so much for taking the time to let me know. I'll definitely do that once I have time tonight. I literally wasted like 5 hours yesterday trying to figure out what I was doing wrong. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

You are welcome, I am always glad to help if I can. Once you finish you trimless version of that wall it would be very swell if you could share it by the way. I've been wanting a trimless version of it since I first spotted it but have been much to lazy to make one myself so far. =)
