I thought it was strange too, because I do check mipmaps for literally every other .DDS texture I make. I tried putting normal textures (with mipmaps) on various different items (even floors and walls) yet everything went "dark" and looked broken when I zoomed out. Without mipmaps it looks just fine. Could there be something wrong with my .DDS plugin in Photoshop? I doubt it, but you never know...

EDIT: I found the solution!!!! So my .dds plugin apparently had an option called "Alpha Modulate" ticked. This caused the mipmaps that generate from the image to appear darker than the normalmap, which in turn caused them to appear broken in game. When I unticked that I generated my mipmaps, and it works fine now!!!
