Hello, I've been working on a dress but the shadow of the sim shows up really dark. I've never encountered this and I don't know how to fix it.
See the shadow where she's standing is basically black.

This issue is not related to CAS items. Something with your graphic card or game settings. There are no resources in CAS items that create shadow underneath a sim.

This issue is not related to CAS items. Something with your graphic card or game settings. There are no resources in CAS items that create shadow underneath a sim. It only looks dark when the sim is wearing the dress I'm working on. When I tell her to change clothes, it goes back to looking normal.

What item did you use as a base? I have noticed one of the Victorian dresses from Get Famous does this to my Sims.

What item did you use as a base? I have noticed one of the Victorian dresses from Get Famous does this to my Sims. It's a blend of 2 GF meshes, one the historical one with the vest(PantsWide), and a skirt from GF (SkirtHigh). I have not paid much attention to how these look in the game to see if they do that to the shadow. Maybe its only supposed to look like that with floor length dresses and something got that attribute that shouldn't have had it?
I'll investigate this further, thanks!

It can be a glitch with particular dress that you used for clonining the package from. Have you tried using another item? Again, there are no resources in CAS items that can control the shadow that is cast by sims. Shadow is calculated by game engine.

So it *was* the skirt that was causing the shadow, but that's apparently just the shadow that the game generates for it. Apparently the shadow the game generates for long skirts is darker than for short skirts, though usually since maxis long skirts are floor length you normally can't see how dark the shadow is. At least, I hadn't noticed. this is the GF skirt: this is my dress: and this is a short skirt with a normal shadow: I'll chalk this up under "that's just how it is" Thank you for those that commented on this post. I'm not very experienced making cc clothes, so I appreciate the help
