I've been trying to figure out how to, for example, move the honey cake recipe from the cooking stove dialog to the baking one, how would I do that? I tried just adding the tuning id and recipe name to stove_Bake_StartCrafting, and it's not showing up in game.

That's very helpful but that mod has features that are a little overboard for what I need, haha. I've studied similar mods - specifically emilypl27's cupcake items on stove mod, in an effort to understand how it's done so I can do this myself in the case that one of their mods gets abandoned, I can at least update it myself for personal use, you know?
I'll still check out the code of what you linked, and really hope I don't need scripting to achieve what I want because scripting is a little too advanced for me. Thanks!

You don't need to know scripting to do this. The changes you need to make are all located in the XML tuning files which can easily be accessed with Studio.
You will need to remove the recipe from the fridge_Cook and stove_StartCrafting tuning and then add it to the fridge_Bake_StartCrafting and stove_Bake_StartCrafting tuning.

So that works, thank you! Which brings me to my next step - doing the same thing to move the voodoo doll doughnuts to the oven (which is my initial goal) doesn't work, following those exact same steps. It just never appears in the menu, despite the files being correct, so I'm a little bit confused about where I'm going wrong.

I tried just adding the tuning id and recipe name to stove_Bake_StartCrafting, and it's not showing up in game. This is updated to the most recent patch, it moves all desserts from cooking to baking. It only changes their category listing, nothing else.  I was not going to keep this mod updated, but I have decided I will continue to for those like you who find SCCO to be to much.
