This is a long shot and would be a ton of work... Wouldn't it be cool if we had a "Sims 4 Studio" download page? The CC forum is great here, but again it can be kind of hard to navigate. Something like mod the sims, but more friendly and revolving around this awesome tool. Just a thought!

The Studio team has thought about a Studio site where Studio creators could upload their items almost since we started working on Studio. There are issues that have to be considered though. The first issue is how would such a site generate enough revenue to support itself? The Proboards forum is free. The ads you see here are placed on the page by Proboards and no money from them comes to anyone working on Studio. The tool itself is hosted for free as well. A site where people upload files/download many files would be a different story. There is no free hosting available for something like that and the cost would not be insignificant...I know because we've looked into this in the past. Any site of that type would have to place ads, take donations, charge for downloads/membership/premium features, or some mix of those options in order to pay for itself.
We've considered an alternative type of site where everyone would host their items themselves but all upload links/pictures to a single site that was set up with proper indexing and formatting so that it had the appearance of a cohesive download site. The problem with that is it would be very difficult, if not impossible, to keep trolls and other trouble makers from uploading things that weren't appropriate for a Sims 4 site. Even if the upload process itself was moderated in some way to make sure only legitimate game content was going up initially there would be no way to stop someone from switching out the upload after it had been approved for posting.
A second issue is time. A web site takes some amount of work to write and test. Every moment that is spent on that is time taken away from working on the tool itself and there are still so many features we want to get into Studio ranging from adding swatches to object meshes and recolors, to being able to edit the .rles for CAS speculars, to getting DATA in for tuning mod creation.
Those two issues, money and time, are the biggest hurdles. The team has a lot of ideas in terms of what the site itself would be like and, obviously, the community would be engaged in the development of the site just as the community guides the development of Studio. So I'm not saying Studio would never attempt this. I'm just saying there's a lot to it and it can't happen in a really short time frame given that we don't have anyone on the Studio team that is experienced with web site design and has the time to work solely on a web site. If there's anyone with that experience that's interested in talking about this send me a PM.
