I am there with feyona; I never played The Sims 3, because the Sims were so ugly. I mean, their supporters refer to them as “puddings” for goodness sake!
But TS3 Pets looked like it was really great, so I’d love to have horses and the small pets along with dogs and cats with similar features. My son breeds reptiles, so it would be particularly great to have lizards and snakes, along with the frogs with breeding functions, but also pet functions.
All I have are the base game and Get to Work, so I figure home businesses and apartments still aren’t possible?? That would be top of my list.
I tried to accomplish this by using cheats so that my business owner could buy duplicate lots in different worlds. One was zoned as residential with door locks on the business part and the other was zoned retail with door locks on the residential, but trying to use door locks to create apartments was a routing disaster, pretty much making the living space unusable. I could direct a Sim to read a book from a bookshelf placed in the same room as them and the Sim would leave the “apartment,” walk up and down 2 or 3 flights of stairs, and then stomp their foot at an empty wall. Gotta love Sims; they’re dumb as boards.
Something I don’t want is cars. Most of my Sims live the semi-utopia that Willow Creek is to my mind. I love that they are surrounded by a perpetual spring (I’ve got nothing against seasons though) in a world that facilitates so much interaction with other Sims and the natural world. The only thing I’d like as far as transportation goes are public transit options for travel. I will be conflicted if an EP that mixes other things I desire with cars. My Sims could just refrain from buying their own wastes of resources, but I know there was way too much background traffic in TS2.
Beyond that…yeah, I’m pissed about what we are expected to pay for Maxis’ stripped down EPs, especially as that’s a result of their own mismanagement. They started working on this in 2008! And then to what stevenssimsstuff mentioned about fixes – I believe Maxis pretty much takes it for granted that the same people who pay good money for their products will also be the ones who do all this unpaid work to make them playable.
And the delay was created by the desire to have an online component, so it’s just a win-win for Origin. It makes no sense, so it was dropped, but now they can spam us and even intrude right in the middle of game play with messages. I resent that mightily.
