Hello! I cloned and recolored one of the floor stains from the Strangerville pack, and made new textures to make a set of 4 floor stains that come in 7 colors, and can be used to make any floor dirty. Works like a charm, in my game!
After all that work, I asked a friend to test it, and what do you know: they don't have strangerville, and therefore the rug object will not show in their game. Grr! I can see the PackId setting in the Object Catalog screen, but I can't change it.
I have tried exporting a basegame rug object and importing the meshes and texture, but that does not work, I have all kinds of problems with the transparencies. I'm a bit at my wits end after two days of trying to fix this.
So it should look like this in game.
I would be very grateful for any help, thank you for your time!

Hi, my best guess would be to clone one of the base game terrapin decals. Then go to the Warehouse, click on Model, click on LODs on the right, click on High Detail Flags, then by Meshes on the right click Edit Items, scroll down to Material>Entries, click Edit Items, then for each Varient ID in the list click on Edit Items on the right and change AlphaBlended from 0 to 1. I think that should make this decal have the same transparency capability as the StrangerVille item. Then you would just have to replace the textures & meshes with yours. Hope this works!

Great suggestion, I'm now trying with one of the water stains DEBUG items, if that does not work out I will try this next

Well, it works in itself, except that it still has all the characteristics of the water stain. So sims really hate it, and can mop it up. I would guess it will also disappear over time. That's a little more than I bargained for. Hmm, how to remove all this?

Okay, I have followed lavsim's suggestion, and exported the terrapin pool decoration. Changed the tags, imported the texture, everything looks fine in S4S. And then I import it in the game and try it and it looks like this. I've actually tried a few other carpets and floor decorations, but this always seems to be the result. A few black spots. So close, and yet so far. Now, what can I do? HALP!

Well that's strange... I made a test decal using the large terrapin decal as I described, and in my game it appears identical to the ones you uploaded. Here is the file if you want to test it. Edit: I thought I should add that I exported and imported your textures as .dds. Probably not the issue, but you never know!

Hey, yours works! I'm not sure what is wrong with mine, I tried importing my texture in the terrapin decal and only get black spots. Awesome, thank you! Is it okay with you if I use your file and work on it further? I will give you credit for it, of course! Thankyou thankyou thankyou! I imported and exported my textures as .png, so it's worth checking if that was the cause of the problem.

Okay...So, I cloned your file 4 times, and exported the textures, and imported them in .dds format. Put it in the game, and yay, it works! And then I remove your file, terrapin-dirty floor.package from the game, and try again. And I get a message- "object is missing its footprint resource". Trying to re-export as "selective clone" and then doing it all again now.
*it works now, and I haven't thrown the computer out of the window yet, so progress!* Now off to make some thumbnails

Glad to hear that it is working! Sure, you can use the file. No need to give me credit.

Oh but I will. I would never in a million years have figured out that it was the .psd format that caused this problem. Thank you!

I love this idea! Are you making these available for public use? I'd love to have them in my game.

Awesome! Thank you for the link. I actually already have both the dirt and blood overlay you created in my game and use them vigorously. Got to love grungy sims!

Aww, that is great to know. MTS is such a frustating place sometimes; so large that it can seem that anything you put on it gets lost in the enormity of it. Who gets to see it? But I'm glad you found a use for it :-)
