Thank you and please do not apologise for having a life outside of gaming . . .. we all do . . and for me it takes priority every time.
I sincerely appreciate what you have done to 'fix' my errors . so thank you again.
Even so, unless I can see what you have done, I will continue to make those errors . . over and over . . .
I created downloadable paintings, posters and patterns for the previous version of the game . . for around 10 years . . and knew the process inside out, but had to follow a tutorial for Sims4 . . but, apparently, the final save in this tutorial still contains the original textures . . and that surprises me. In my case, it adds an extra 15.3% to the 'weight' of the file . . quite a large amount for such a small file. BTW, in the tutorial, the only 'visit' to the Warehouse was to remove the glass effect on the painting.
Okayl I have looked at both Warehouse screens and compared them, and it appears that the second DST fiile in each version, is the one to remove?
I also note that in the Game screen, my paintings show the thumbnail, but yours shows the painting image. I am guessing that, after I remove the extra textures, I then make the thumbnails and they will also be images of the painting, not the thumbnail?
I have uploaded both sets of screenshots [warehouse/game] in support of my theory. L=you. M=me
Black marks are the files to be deleted - red marks are the previews made after the deletions.
Would you do one final thing for me and confirm if my assumptions are correct . . or, especially, re-direct me if they are not. Just when you have the time to spare for this extra request is fine by me.
again, many thanks and warm regards. M. one unrelated question. can u tell me why on almost every post some - and sometimes all - my text gets a line through it and I have to edit? I don't use formatting, so it isn't an accidental mis-click! . . it drives me batty! LOL
EDIT I have just tried my new package file in the game - following my assumptions above - and still the painting image in the catalog is a thumbnail in all 3 instances, not an image of the painting. The tutorial for the Catalog thumbnail clearly states to snatch a small image from the original painting, resize it to fit the [exported] blank thumbnail image ,save it and import it.. This is what I have done. Just when I thought I had it sussed! I am a very confused camper right now. M.

The images you see (mine) are also thumbnails that I made by taking a 116x116 screenshot of your whole paintings as showing in S4S, and I just imported the thumbnail where it says "import" next to the little thumbnail window on the right so that they will be permanent. Which means that those where not created by game and will stay permanent.
Your thumbnails show only parts of the paintings. (I assume you made them like this). If you like them better, ignore my package and just delete the piano 128x64 DST files in your package, Done!
ETA: Your paintings as seen in my game and EA's marcorse

You are a special lady! thank you for solving the extra textures issue. I now know how to identify them, all due to you.
In addition, I love your catalog screenshots . . much better than my small snatch! . . so . . I tried making an image of the first painting [from a screenshot in game] to fit the thumbnail space [116x116px] but of course, in the game, it came out square . . couldn't be anything else with those dimensions - and yet yours is a rectangle. exactly like the painting.
This is still a pretty steep learning curve for me . How did you get S4S to accept your import when the shape is so different. . . . and what size is it? you say a 16x16 screenshot. but even at the smallest size, the screen capture using the game camera is quite large . .
I tried resizing my screenshot to 116 wide x 60px . .[proportionate] height and importing it into S4S . . but it only resulted in another square image.
No matter how it was done, you have had S4S accept a rectanglar image where the default is a square.
I know I should be grateful and accept that my snatch thumbnails can be used .. . but the mystery of yours won't let me. :D If you would permit this one last indulgence, I promise not to be such a pest ever again. P-) M.
EDIT Thanks also for the heads up about the line through text option. Yes, I had to deactivate this to remove the lines from my messages, but I didn't activate it in the first place . . .weird, but I can deal with it. xo

Never mind about the occasional blooper . . . it happens io the best of us . . . at 80 I make my fair share . . and the exercise didn't hurt me at all! LOL.
Okay. I have just downloaded lighthot . . . and tested it . . . hurrah! I see what you meant . . it worked fine. I have a new image of my actual painting that is the correct thumbnail size, but shows the painting in it's entirety. Way to go, sweet thing!
I will try to keep my promise = no more intrusions on your time.... but my next project is wallpaper teeheee! Have a great rest of the week - both here and in RL . . . especially in RL. xo Marg.

In the Sims 2 I could pause the game when my sim was doing a still life painting and find the temp file. I could then replace it with any image I wanted. Making custom paintings actually painted by my sims. Is that possible? I found the temp file that is created when my sim paints from a reference and I tried replacing it, but it doesn't work.
