And is it possible that some objects in a package can work, and others can't?

And is it possible that some objects in a package can work, and others can't? That's the thing about mixing Meshes together, to make something UNIQUE....it may work Great and look Great in your Game because you have all the EP's and extra Paks, but someone with just the Base Game won't be able to use it. Lately', i have started off with Base Game meshes to Convert Sims2 Objects with a little Tweaking, so they are compatible for all. That's why it is REALLY IMPORTANT to Label what your Object is compatible with....after you get the Custom Mapping and Blender OBJ. import down, you can really mix a lot of things together when you have the time to Rock on it.

Signs for some reason have Bugs; With the earlier versions of Studio - they worked OK. As an example, made the set of Bar Signs that Flashed and Blinked - just miniaturized' them from the Base Game. After a few Updates from EA/Origin....there is no More MAXIS, from the OLD DAYS - Just a Corporate Paid for acronymity...They no longer work. The same goes for a few other Base Game Mods from last year. This will always be an Issue to some extent...just a bit Bizarre @ Times, until - HOPEFULLY - It All Pulls Together towards the End with a GOOD MASTER PATCH from the Idiots.
