I HAVE THE SOLUTION(I think)!!!!! After lots of time trying, I finally got it.
(For MacOS obviously) 1)Firstly, add The Sims 4 to your dock. 2)Right-click the icon and select "Options" and then "Show in Finder". 3)Once shown in Finder, drag it to your Applications folder in Favorites. It should now be listed as an application. 4)Finally, all you need to do is navigate to the Applications folder then select The Sims 4 whilst setting the game path in S4S.
Hope this works for you, did for me.

pontesluis20, hi! if the game is official then you should have had installed origin to play it with. please open S4S, go to settings and share a screenshot of the whole paths' window.

A method i figured out after hours of struggling with no game content showing was running S4S as ADMIN. To do that, just right click the program and run as administrator. It seems TS4S has some issues with accessing the files. I have my game installed on a different drive from the default so the game path can still be set properly.
But then I ran into a second issue: CC wasn't showing among the game content.
The ONLY solution for this is to move your mods to the Sims 4 Studio Mods folder in your documents and then move the files BACK when you're done editing them. Frustrating from a modders perspective but it is what it is.

I had similar problem few days ago (mine was "Value cannot be null"), s4s accept my settings but all the time I've got this error. My sims game was installed in C:/The sims 4. I had to create extra folder, then install sims there and this worked for me. I don't know if it help you in any way, but I reinstalled my game too many times before I found solution, so I share what solve my problem
