Hiya, I downloaded an inground hot tub that looks like a natural hot spring with the intent to make it function off-the-grid. But I can't seem to get it working. I was able to to make the item description SAY that it works off-the-grid, but the options are all greyed out telling me that it won't work without plumbing. I looked through tuning XML but I didn't find anything linking the object to plumbing or electricity utilities. (electricity for the built-in stereo, which I don't mind not working off-the-grid) Somewhere I saw people dropping in code to whitelist actions for off-the-grid use. This either didn't work or I don't understand where to put this code. (or both) Really hoping someone can help and that this turns out to be a quick fix. I really am not good at this kind of stuff, so I would appreciate all the help I can get. This is the hot tub I downloaded: simadream.tumblr.com/post/185344985722/functional-japanese-hot-tub-so-i-updated-and(if it matters, I removed coding that made it able to be carried in a sim's inventory, and that worked fine) Almost forgot, yes, the hot tub works fine on regular lots, so I know that's not the issue.

Bump, because I'd still really like to figure this out. Thanks!

I'm still in the early stages of learning this stuff but I took a look out of curiously. I couldn't find anything that was helpful looking at the tuning for the DL tub or a game one. I then looked at a sink I know has the offgrid thing but all I could find that was of interest was that it also had the live drag in the tuning, even though I'm not sure it can dragged in live mode (never tried to be honest). Maybe this is something is linked to the off grid tuning? Hopefully someone here can help out, it's an interesting problem.

Hmm, that is interesting. But I can't say I have a clue if it means anything either. I found this thread: sims4studio.com/thread/18520/computer-functional-off-gridThe person who posted it talks about removing tuning that refers to power utility... I wonder if I added that wording in but set it as 'disabled' rather than 'enabled'? But it's not power that's the problem, I'd need to know the correct phrasing for the water utility... I might give it a shot later when I'm back on the right computer. If anyone has any advice in the meantime I'd gladly accept it.

Tried it, but it didn't work for me. I honestly have no idea what I'm doing. How much does it matter where you put things in the XML?

I think the power is the main feature here, the tub would need power not just for the stereo but to make the jets and hot water, so it's probably the thing that you need to change. I had a look but couldn't see it but it must be there in the tuning somewhere. When I wanted a sink that couldn't be used to wash dishes in I took the advice to go to the super affordances and delete the line(s) associated with washing up. However the hot tub has nothing in SA that refers to power or off grid use. I'm thinking due to all the stuff thats involved with this object, stereo, lights, fizzing heated water, aromatherapy options, that this was never meant as an off the grid object because its a power hog. The only code I could find that links the tub to the Island is below but how it links with it I have no idea.
<L n="statistic_operations"> <V t="statistic_set_min"> <U n="statistic_set_min"> <T n="stat">208412<!--commodity_IslanderCulture_TimeSinceBroken--></T> </U> </V> </L> </U> <U>
I'm pretty sure you have be precise when changing and adding code, I added a line and was 1 line space out and it didn't work.
