You need to split the edges. select all the faces around the hat like in the screenshot, then go to mesh --> Edges --> Edge split save the .blend and import again

Omg that worked! Thank you so much! If you can, would you be able to explain to me why that was happening and why edge splitting worked?

it's pretty hard to explain, sims 4 has trouble rendering sharp edges, the game uses smooth shading and it sometimes messes up on sharp edges, by splitting the edges we are affecting the vertex normal generation at that edge, making the edge appear sharp, so the game will actually interpret that edge as sharp instead of trying to smooth it out

If you use the Remove Doubles option on a mesh blender and the game will attempt to smooth out the appearance of edges and seams so that they look soft. If you want any of your mesh seams and edges to remain sharp you should select them as mentioned above by sigma1202 and Split Edges which tells that game two seperate surfaces meet there and should be shaded differently. If you haven't already, it's best to switch to smooth shading in blender so you can see these types of issues before you import the mesh back into studio.
