i know i'm late to this, but is it okay if you could post screenshots of how you did it? because i read the entire thread but still lost. it's okay of you can't. but, thanks Let me think. The pink texture (more like missing texture) of doom still haunts me from time to time in my conversions.
In this case, it seems to have been fixed by appending a Blend file of what I was working on, instead of importing it as an object file. But to be honest, there was probably more there, but we're nearly a year out from this so I don't remember the details.
When dealing with importing an external object (as in, a 3D model downloaded from the internet) and you get the pink color of doom, it means that Blender is not finding the texture for some reason. I've seen a couple of reasons for this happening and it's always been frustrating. Blender is 'unable' to find the texture image simply because the name of it is slightly wrong, even if you click on the texture image. While that can sometimes be fixed by editing the name to what it's supposed to be (which Blender will show you when you click on "Report Missing Files"), a lot of the time it's been a lot more complicated... Like a file name being larger than what my OS (Windows 7) allows. =/
I've noticed that sometimes even with the pink color, it can be imported to Sims 4 Studio, and then you can place a texture on it and everything is okay. I think that's what may have happened in the example of this topic. S4S wouldn't accept it when doing the obj method, but would the append Blend option. I don't really get it, but that's what happens sometimes.
