tumblr is only good if your prepared to buy one of the good themes. the free ones suck you can barely add links with the free ones. it's also not user friendly there's no proper editor to set up pages or even sections unless you know html code or buy one of the more expensive themes that lets you do it.

I think that Tumblr is a mixed bag and that the mixed-ness of it is related to the fact that it is more of a social networking utility than an uploads/downloads utility.
It's great at providing a blog with relatively few skill/experience demands to set up and maintain that allows you to network with other people who share your interests. You can easily and at no cost set up something that is reliable, allows you to create the appearance you want to some degree, and immediately jump right into blogs that are related to your interest to get in on that community network. This makes it a viable choice for creators to use for sharing Sims 4 content, getting their name out there, and for meeting other creators.
It does have drawbacks though. First off, it is somewhat difficult to have actual conversations of any kind unless you want to spend a lot of time accumulating sites you follow and that follow you. This is the social networking feature at work. It's great for social networks but not so good for people who just want to put a single comment on your blog that says something like "hey this is a great sofa set...thanks for all your hard work". A downloader doesn't necessarily want to get a Tumblr, follow you, and then wait for two weeks before they can make this one comment on the one thing of yours they downloaded. If they don't have a Tumblr they cannot even give you a like. You get a download count saying one number and then this far smaller number of "likes" and an even smaller number of comments.
This has the result of creators making something and never getting any real feedback on it other than one or two written notes from their friends/followers and a bunch of almost meaningless (in terms of feedback) "likes". It's great to know that people liked something you made but getting a "like" is no substitute for words and not getting personalized comments can make Tumblr feel very isolating in a way. This is particularly acute when something you've posted is not functioning correctly. Not many downloaders are going to get a Tumblr, sign up to follow you, and then wait two weeks just to let you know that wallpaper you posted is showing up as question marks in their game.
Second, and of particular concern to downloaders, is there is no overall Simblr index. This makes it very difficult to navigate through the thousands of items to find the type of thing you're looking for. The closest substitute I can see is something like My Sims 4 Blog. This site, and sites like it, currently serve as the de facto index for Tumblr. Downloaders want to download using some sort of indexing system and Tumblr doesn't have that.
Downloaders also want to have at least the illusion that the content their downloading has some quality control. Both TSR and MTS have successfully, whether by accident or on purpose, convinced many many downloaders that the content on their site is game tested by an impartial moderator. This is, of course, not true but that doesn't matter because downloaders *believe* that it's true. Tumblr has no such myth built around it and so downloaders tend to not trust items from Tumblr as much. This is exacerbated by the above issue...it's difficult for downloaders to communicate with creators on Tumblr so if a piece of content *does* have a problem often the creator is among the last to know. They've put up their item in good faith, it doesn't work right in some people's game, but those people cannot communicate this to them so more people download it, have the same problem, and become convinced Tumblr isn't "safe" to download from.
For these and other reasons I think Tumblr is a mixed bag. That said I still feel it's better to have your own site of whatever sort than to rely on a site that doesn't care about Sims 4 creators to value your work and care about you as a person. To the current two big sites all Sims 4 uploads are is pennies in the bank and just on principal alone I really don't like that and cannot recommend that any creator subject themselves to it.

I have just noticed that. I went and started to set up an account last night and to day was posting my first content. It was such a pain in the ass to figure out how to post. i already want to delete my account. If I know more on creating a web site and if I could find a free hosting site I would do that. I guess I will just stick to my blog on wordpress or make a new one on blogger. Then just hope it gets noticed.

@countrykris - you don't have to wait for it to get noticed! Both MySims4Blog and Sims4Updates (huge CC aggregator [sp?] sites) have a way for your to let them know you have new CC to share. They are generally happy to share your link as more links to share on their site benefits them as well.

I actually use blogger for my main content, and I love it. I like wix, but their "blog" function is pretty bulky/limited in my opinion. It's not easy to add posts. What ever you decide, personal blog, tumblr, what ever, make sure to get your name out there. Go to sims4updates.net/ and submit your content on their comments page, same thing for mysims4blog.blogspot.com/I try to check in here often and reblog content from here to my tumblr. I'm not sure if anyone is seeing a boost in downloads when I do this, but I try to do it because we have so many awesome creators here.

Those are all really good ideas I never thought of. I did not know you can submit your links to the Sims4updates and My sims 4 blog. Thank you all for the information.

I recently started using my blog, the google one, and all the stats are there if you want to see how many visits you've had, where they came from geographicaly, which site referred visitors and even their operating system. I use Box for hosting files and from there you can see how many DLs you've had. They used to send daily emails too but that seems to have stopped. Regarding putting the word out, I posted one link here in this forum and one of the finds sites had it up pretty quickly. I found that surprising but pleasantly so.

Yes after much research I have found Blogger to be the best choice. I had to however unlink it from my Google+ account because there was no way to change the username they show to the public, I did not want my real name to be shown. For the tracking, right now I added some code to my post that keeps count but I need it tested. I posted help for that on my CC link page here but have not got anyone to help yet. I will also look into Box and see if that's a better choice.

dropbox shows you how many dl you had? where? motherof70 was talking about Box not Dropbox. I looked at Box and the free version does not keep a count of downloads but it is bigger than Dropbox. P.S. I just checked my Blogger and my counter went up since I last checked. So the code works. (Happy Dance)

I don't pay for my Box account but it does tell me the number of DLs I've had when I go into the folder it's kept in, rather than the link page-if that makes sense.
