I'm completely new to both modeling and modding for any game, and I've been really struggling here.
and didn't see the heart I made at all. I'm pretty sure I put the unwrapped mesh in the right place each time, in uv_0 and uv_1 and I have no idea what else would have caused it.
I don't need to publish this, I just want it usable for myself, but if it does end up working sufficiently to be published I guess I will. Things I may have done wrong: The Studio looks like this now: imgur.com/a/k7K5pPD which is different than what it looked like way back when in step 1 of the tutorial, meaning I'm not sure if I'm supposed to select Create CAS Standalone or Create 3d Mesh. In the tutorial, the arrow is pointing to Create 3d Mesh, but Standalone CAS Part is selected. I tried both all the way through, and neither showed up. Please let me know which I'm supposed to use. I guess because it's a necklace and not earrings, the uv_1 stuff looks pretty different: imgur.com/HrX28FWSo I'm not sure if I did step 9 of part IV right. Like maybe I have to make the necklace mesh smaller so it fits in the bounds, or put the heart somewhere different? I don't know.
I didn't do the Vertex Weight Painting, at first because it didn't seem important, then as i was searching for things to fix, because I couldn't find the 'Show Weights' checkbox selected in step 24 of part V. Also, I don't know which vertex group to select. Honestly, the heart getting bigger when the head or neck gets bigger doesn't make sense or seem important, but maybe it needs weighting at all in order to show up? Please let me know if this is necessary.
I know in most forums like this, it's discouraged to offer to just do someone's work for them, but I could post my files just so y'all can get a better look at what I did and where I went wrong. I don't see a way to attach files here though, so let me know if and how you want me to do that. Please ask any and all questions, I'll answer to the best of my ability. If you want me to look at any tabs or tools, please let me know how to find them, because I probably don't know where they are unless it's like move, rotate, scale. Thank you in advance for any help

Hi. The Sims 4 studio does not support your version of Blender. The item needs to have a cut number assigned to it for S4S to recognize and import it in the package. This field can appear only in Blender 2.7, 2.76, 2.77 or 2.78. The last is best. You can still model in 2.8+ but use Blender 2.78 as a bridge. Clone a necklace, export the blend file, open it in 2.78, then File - Append - Object - your necklace meshgroup. Then set type and cut number, save, import in s4s. I suggest to not use the version of Blender with a different interface than in tutorials for learning. You will just make it harder for yourself. Initially Create CAS Standalone was for making recolors while Create 3d Mesh included all other resources. As of right now they are the same thing. The developers do not remove one to not confuse people who are used to it. Everything is important. Weight paint defines how the mesh will animate. If you do not assign it to the right vertex groups, it will just float, not follow the movement at all. In your case it would be easier to transfer the weights: - unfold rig, make top visible and selectable; - Select it, Shift-select your heart, switch to Weight paint, choose Transfer weights, choose By name; - Choose Clean tool, scroll up, choose All groups. - After weight transfer, your heart will have all vertex groups of the reference even if it is not affected by them. To remove them, use this addon. (Type 0 and click Purchase, it's free. Put downloaded file in Blender\2.78\scripts\addons. Install it ( File - Preference - type remove in the search bar - enable the addon - Save user Settings - restart Blender). Uv_1 map dictates how the mesh will morph during body customization. If the way your item's uvs are unwrapped does not match with the body's, the body will clip into the necklace. Instead of manually unwrapping, transfer the uvs: - select your heart ( without the chain ), add Data transfer modifier, choose top as Source object, set the rest like this, apply in Object mode Vertex paint dictates according to what variation of deformer maps the painted area will morph during body customization. All accessories are vertex painted with 007F00.

Thank you for the help, the help looks good. Unfortunately, I'm stuck on the first thing. I can't get 2.78 to show an S4Studio CAS Tools tab in the Scene properties tab. I cloned the necklace in S4S, exported the mesh to 2.78, and there is no such tab underneath Custom Properties or anywhere. I uninstalled both Blenders, nothing. I tried to activate Import-Export Sims 4 Studio Blender Tools in the Add-ons and I just get a 'Traceback' error. I can't find any way to fix this error online. I kind of feel stupid. This part of your answer looked simple, but I don't know what I could have messed up :(

Just checked and fixed the blender path in S4S and it's still not working.

Use 2.76 or 2.70 as a bridge for Studio. 2.78 and 2.79 don't work for some people including me.

I'm sorry to bump this thread again, but I've been busy and upset with school over the past several days and wasn't able to work on the project. Mauvemorn said '- After weight transfer, your heart will have all vertex groups of the reference even if it is not affected by them. To remove them, use this addon. (Type 0 and click Purchase, it's free. Put downloaded file in Blender\2.78\scripts\addons. I don't see a link to the addon here? And they said everything is important so I don't want to just skip it. Idk if it's too much to hope that they see this again or that someone else knows what addon they were talking about, but either would be a huge help and hopefully all I need to finish.
