I'm trying to learn how to convert XNA/XPS hair to TS4 but I'm struggling a bit due to the lack of proper tutorials... I have some experience in converting outfits (using YT ivkasims tutorial) and I did some already with success but when I try to apply my usual knowledge of outfit conversion to a hair model it just doesn't work. Either the hair is invisible or is glitched. I think it may be something related to the "cuts" or something else entirely but again, I fail to find any good info that could help me move forward... Is there any way for anyone to give me some tips about the hair related steps I need to remember so that they show up ingame correctly (those that differ from outfit creation at least - I am kinda good at that now)? I am only interested in converting those kind of hair and not maxis match / from scratch so I guess I would need some tips about this SimGlass thingy too, in order to make the game recognize the transparency/alpha. Thank you a lot for your time.

Hi. The process is pretty much the same. The only difference is that a hair blend file must have 3 meshgroups ( base shape and 2 hat chops ) each of which would have a different cut number ( more about cut numbers here) and they should be vertex painted with 007F00. Transfer a uv_1 map from a head found under rig ( make sure it's , first, head, not teeth, second, selectable(cursor icon next to an eye icon) ) or, if the hair goes below the neck, duplicate both the head and the top, join them, use as a reference

I did that and it seems to work, my only issue here is now using the Simglass feature correctly... because it's kinda see through with some glitches, whereas if I use normal materials the texture is perfect (but not transparent ha!)- Apparently this problem can be fixed in CAS Tools but I have no idea what to do, is there anyone that could help me with getting the right Simglass settings (or forward me a tutorial for hair transparency?) Picture as reference to show the glitchy texture/transparency I meant:

This thread has instructions, and there are blender steps on the second page. You need to separate all the layers from top to bottom, and then join them in order on an empty mesh to have correct alpha order. You also need to triangulate your mesh before importing.

You need to separate all the layers from top to bottom, and then join them in order on an empty mesh to have correct alpha order. You also need to triangulate your mesh before importing. Hello and thank you for the care and for the link. Sadly, I'm a beginner in Blender and the video on the second page is too generic to be applied to my hair case. I learnt how to convert an XPS mesh to TS4 only thanks to this very helpful tutorial by Ivka, that shows you quite in detail from start to finish what to do, also explaining vocally piece by piece how and where to look for things if you're not comfortable with Blender and its functions and all I can really do with Blender is converting an outfit to TS4. Now, I wouldn't mind using Milkshape or 3ds Max for this part but I've never used them before so I have literally zero knowledge on those and sadly, the 3ds Max tutorial linked on that first page isn't really beginner friendly. Now, I think it would be easier if I just ask here for what I think I'd really need: a video tutorial like the one I linked about converting an XPS hair mesh (with alpha) to TS4 with either Blender (preferred) or Milkshape/3dsMax showing all the steps from start to finish. I don't think anyone ever made something like that (but I may be wrong) so if anyone would be so kind to take some time and do a video, similar to the one I linked, I would be eternally grateful. It doesn't even have to be for free, but again I would truly appreciate if someone would do this for me (and for everyone wanting to try and convert alpha XPS hair to our favourite game here). Here is my blend file so far with the alpha problem, in case someone would like to have a look at it and help me converting it properly the way I asked... Thank you so much

Is there anyone that could help me fix this hair? I'm still so clueless and tried so many combinations but still the bug persists... ._.
