I can download Windows 10 now and was wondering if anyone has done it yet and if the game and the Sims 4 Studio will run on it okay? Anyone know?

MS states that if you are running progs with 8.1 - or, whichever version that checked out okay for the 10 DL, there should be no issues. Of course, who knows for sure? 1 thing I do know, is that 10 is Free to make the next pay-for 11. Risky? Not sure, waiting for the Weekend to give it a shot - more Time to deal with any issues.

Well, I went ahead and installed it. The first time I opened s4s, it crashed, gave me an error message, but wouldn't let me copy it...then I ran it again and it worked fine. I am playing around with it, so we will see.

I was on Windows 7 and upgraded to 10 and all things work just fine. I have created 2 things to day. If you run into a problem I would first reinstall studio to see if it fixes the problem.

Got my upgrade last night by using the Media Creation Tool trick too. Haven't had a chance to try out which existing software still works or not (it's on my old spare PC) but was horrified at what the default settings are if you choose Express Install, as I expect most people would do. In Custom Install, there are two screenfulls of settings that by default (if you chose Express Install) share all your personal details, browsing habits and location with Microsoft and other third parties, and all sorts of other remarkably privacy-invading stuff. I switched all of those off, but who knows how effective that actually is. Article showing and discussing the default settings screens (as well as other informative critical info) here: www.extremetech.com/extreme/211208-windows-10s-default-privacy-settings-and-controls-leave-much-to-be-desired . So, a word of warning for those who haven't installed yet - use Custom Install and turn off anything you don't want on. ETA: Forgot to mention that Win 10 also uses your PC and its Internet bandwidth as a 'torrent' client to distribute its software, records your keystrokes, and apparently also serves up ads to you in your Start Menu according to your browsing history (I didn't see that happen during the brief time I tested it), yikes! I never thought I'd say this, but I prefer Windows 8.1 - will stick with that!

hahahaha yeah you pretty much install big brother unless your careful. lucky i saw that option right away! i wiped out all the junk in the start menu and only have the stuff i want in there i haven't seen any ads appear so far. if your worried about privacy etc you can use a program called windows 10 manager to disable everything including auto updates.

Glad you saw that option and took the necessary action. Microsoft assumes their users are all non-tech-savvy and that we will just go ahead and choose Express Install without thinking about it. Unfortunately, as someone who worked as a computer engineer and network manager for 20 years, I did find that most of our clients were not tech-knowledegable and would unquestioningly trust and click on anything they saw on their screens (including malware, which resulted in my many hours cleaning up their PCs and/or networks). So Microsoft is counting on all of us blindly allowing them to collect our details, serve us ads, and use us as bit torrent zombies, ha ha.
Thanks for the advice re Windows 10 Manager, will check that out! I think it's inevitable that there will be a number of helpful hackers who will create tools to knock out unwanted Windows 10 garbage and give us back control over our own systems (for instance, like the Classic Shell did for Windows 8.1). I'm eternally grateful to those folks.

Sounds good! I'm going to wait until Win 10 has had at least one or two Service Packs before I even think about putting it on my everyday PC (I stopped being an early adopter of Windows after the fiasco that the first releases of Vista and 8.0 were), but I'll check out playing around with Windows 10 Manager on my spare one.

Has anyone opened up and used the old simPE with W10 yet? I think that's the only thing I have concerns about.

I have Joy version 2.5.1.7 on Windows 10 and it's buggy for me, but still functional. I assume it has something to do with my graphics card (AMD R9 290X) and I have to readjust the size of the S4Studio window every time I add or delete swatches. I know there's a fix with the disable hardware rendering but I think it's worse than the visual bugs in terms of performance xD.
