Introduction
Hello everyone! I'm Untraditional Nerd and I'm here to talk about shadow map. This tutorial will show you how to edit the shadow map when you export it as png. I will simply show how to avoid the shadow to break once in game.
I will not show you how to actually create a shadow map in this tutorial.
What could happen when working on a png shadow map?
If you export the shadow map as png and simply edit the layer by adding/removing grey parts the result will be something like this: This is what I do to achieve a smooth break free shadow.1_ export the shadow as png
2_ open it with any 2D editor
3_ Add a layer at the bottom of the layer list
4_Fill the bottom layer with 100% white.
5_Now you can work on the shadow layer. In this example I will add a short text to show the result.
Remember that the bottom white layer opacity has to be 100%.
6_Import back, save and test in the game!
This is how it will look once in the game.
Now it's all about testing until you achieve the shadow effect that you are looking for. I hope this short tutorial will help you Happy meshing! UN

From what I can tell it seems that the shadow texture space is shared among all CAS parts (like the diffuse textures), so by filling the background in white it will override any other shadows applied previously (again, probably using the same sort order as diffuse textures). I have not tested this with more than a couple of CAS parts so I may be wrong about this.
Since the picture links are dead I can only guess that this tutorial was aimed at the occasional black masking appearing around the edges of the edited shadow. The only method I have successfully used for editing the shadow texture is by saving/importing it as ARGB DXT5 DDS. It would be great to hear if anyone has a solution for saving the shadow as a PNG that does not hide other shadows.

The images aren't viewable anymore and also I didn't even know Photobucket still existed. But I think I got it! Thank you!

Would love to see the images because I'm confuse as to what the shadow map does to CAS objects
