I know that due to updates some content doesn't work after the game being patched. Is there is a way to update non-working content in Sims4Studio? What does it actually mean? I would love to update all content by myself and skip waiting and re-downloading but don't understand what parameters should be updated to make the package work in the game.

What do you mean "not working", have no idea how the new patch works or what it changes. The only thing I can tell you is that I updated and everything looks fine in my game. However, I haven't had lot of time to check all the items. Which CC do you have problems with? I might need to take a better look too!

Like for example some CC that crashes the game (May Sims hairs for example). Or recent glitch when the game creates oddly looking sims without any custom skins in the folder but with the only glitching CC item. I know that many simmers got this glitch. I found 4 files that were causing this glitch (100% sure because I reseted Mods folder and ran the game with the only faulty CC file (all of them CAS items but not skin details and no additional textures in the file). Simgurusquad didn't comment on this glitch in the thread on official forum. And I posted about this glitch here on this forum, I thought may be it's related with batch fixer (may be not). How can we determine what broke the file and what means to update it? Does it simply mean "to create new package from scratch" or any other way?

The issue with May Sims hairs, or at least many of them, is that she did post-editing in the Warehouse that was specifically performed to render the .package so that Studio would no longer be able to open it. She did these edits in an apparent attempt to stop other people from making recolors of the hairs. These edits were done in such a fashion that the game, at the time she made the edit, would still accept the .package but Studio would be fooled into thinking it was broken content. She added empty CAS Part resources, she added CAS Part resources with references to diffuse images that didn't exist in the .package, she added numbers to indicate there were a greater number of mesh bones than the mesh actually had, she set reserve values to 256 instead of the standard 1 value, and so on. All of these changes were intentional on her part and they all made the .package so that it was very different than a standard .package.
We updated Studio for the first edit she made, so that Studio would still be able to work with the item as long as the game would. She then started editing in a different way. We updated Studio to work with that edit so she found a different way and so on. Studio was updated at least four times to accommodate (and probably more...I lost count) the intentional breakage May Sims performed on her hair.packages.
Then the game patch came out and it appears EA tightened the game up. Abnormal .packages, like these May Sims .packages, that previously worked will no longer work. This is because they were intentionally rendered different from a standard game .package (they were made using Studio and were normal until she purposely broke them) and the game will no longer accept this. The only way to fix that is to export the meshes and textures and put them into a new .package. The person responsible for all the hair that won't work is May Sims herself. This was clearly intentional on her part and the only possible motive for doing it is pure selfishness. There were a couple other creators I'm aware of (all from TSR) that did the same kind of thing. So it is unsurprising that players are having a tough time with CC right now. This is going to be a problem until players weed all this broken junk out of their game.

orangemittens thank for such a detailed explanation. I think I got the idea. To update the content means to fix whatever was broken on purpose and only creators who did it intentionally would know what to fix.

I find this really sad actually. Why would someone be so selfish to do that... people should do this to embrace and help the community as a whole. Well... guess that didn't work so well for them..

this is such a useless comment on my part... but oh my god. I'm literally speechless. Why bothering... Both them and you guys, knowing how they steal all those meshes without the original creator's consent.

Thank you OM I suspected this a while back when I attempted to change the height of a fireplace as it was bleeding through the ceiling, it would not open in studio and in the end I deleted it. It happened with a few other things too all from TSR that had come with a house I DL in a moment of madness. I did think about contacting the creators but I don't spend any time on TSR and decided to delete any content that wouldn't open in Studio. The saddest thing is, all it made me do is think 'well I can make that myself and share it'. I will go through my folder this afternoon and make sure none of those hairs are in there (will take a few seconds I have around 8 altogether) and will not be downloading anything that I know came from the creators I have had broken packages with.

Now, i know why my Game was so screwed up with Hair CC - i still refuse to DL Hair, for over a year going strong! (Ha!) God, that is so Freaking Insane, to be so Paranoid to intentionally do that....i still can't wrap my Head around that.
