I'm trying to make a long planter box, cloned from the large square one. I've had no trouble moving the growing slots to be in a line instead of the original configuration, they work fine. My problem is that I would like to have more than one slot for large plants. Ie is like to grow 2 or 3 trees in the same box. So far I've tried copying the existing large slot and rig, and tried turning existing small slots into large slots. but those slots didn't work. What am I doing wrong?

Were you able to figure this out? I'm also wondering about the same thing.

Different size plants use different size slots. For the trees you can't move them very close together. I am uncertain of the necessary space between two large slots, but to figure it out, create an .obj file from the EA planter and import it twice into the blender file you are creating. The distance between the centers of the 2 EA meshes is the spacing required. Hope that helps.

create an .obj file? Is that different from exporting the planter mesh from studio to blender?

from blender, export mesh as .obj file instead of .blend file. Easier to import .obj into .blend than .blend into .blend - not sure you can even do that. LOL

You can. But you use the option to Append the mesh instead of Importing it.
