I have been trying to learn Blender for about half a year and i just can't get used to it. At first i was fine creating makeup for the sims 4 but i see lots of beautiful creations that i can't create. Is there any other programmes out there where you can create meshes? I also haven't come across that many tutorials that i can watch and understand (it's not that they aren't good, i just don't understand them). Any help here would be appreciated. Thankyou

taraalex I find 3ds Max easier to use than blender just in everything. I enjoy it and suffer when I have to import the mesh in Blender, but I learn step by step. Blender is free which is important and 3DS Max is not (unless you registered a student version for 3 years). All 3D programs seems difficult at the first glance but once you learn the basics it's much easier to follow tutorials. I had very difficult time working in blender when I didn't know how to zoom, rotate objects. Every time I stuck on something I either google or look for the video on youtube. There are plenty free and very informative tutorials for many programs, just tell what exactly you don't understand.

Like feyona I use 3ds max and find blender annoying, but that's only because I use 3ds max, if I didn't I'd manage or not bother. Max or another program maya both have the same learning curve as blender. Blender will do most things max/maya can do without costing a fortune, its just usually easier and quicker in max/maya, but once again you still have to know how to use it. Those of us who use 3ds max use it or have used it for things beyond the sims, if you just want to make meshes for the sims its not worth the money.

Hi taraalex, in terms of free 3D meshing tools, Blender is pretty much the only option which is why Sims 4 Studio uses it. We felt that this gives everyone the chance to make content for the game and not just people with the money to buy special tools. Meshing using any 3D tool takes time to learn and no tool is a snap at first. This is especially true if you're thinking of making CAS items. EA did not make CAS meshing an easy thing to learn in any Sims game and the Sims 4 version of CAS, which is very different than previous versions in other ways, is not different in that respect. There's a lot to Sims 4 CAS. If you're thinking of doing object meshing it's a bit easier to get started but, again, there is a learning curve to overcome there too. All that said, what projects have you tried so far and what were the problems you ran into? Often with meshing the best way to learn is to just pick out a beginner Sims 4 tutorial and jump in. We have a beginner tutorial for making earrings and for making paintings here at Studio forums. Both go over the most basic steps showing step-by-step with illustrations how to make your own item. If you try one of those, please feel welcome to ask questions if you run into problems. One of the nice features of Blender, is that you can share your project file with all your settings so someone can look and easily provide help.

Thankyou Feyona, MisterS and orangemittens! One thing you should know is that i am not going to stop using blender as i completely understand that it will take time (and a lot of fiddling) to improve my knowledge. I think i just wanted something for the short term that may have been a little easier. I only mod Sims 4 and 1 other game at the minute don't have much money (i lost my job:( ) to buy other programmes. It's not that i think blender is bad or anything, i just find this programme particularly hard but that will not deter me! :D At the minute, i usually do makeup items, eyes and tattoos (things that don't require 3d modelling) and some clothes that can be made in Photoshop simply as a texture. I upload them to TSR as taraab and have started to upload them to MTS. I did actually try the earring but it didn't turn out right but am going to try it again sometime in the near future! Is the earring, like, pretty much the easiest thing to start with? I was completely new to Photoshop but have managed to learn and understand that, so why not Blender, right? :D Thankyou again!

How/where do I download blender ? Every time I click Export mesh or whatever it tells me it can not find Blender, but it's already downloaded.

legitpandalise Be sure to check that your path is correct. It should be by default, but who knows. Have you tried uninstalling and re installing s4s?
