I haven't played TS4 for awhile but recently got back to it. One of my kinda self Sim's daughters was aging up and I wanted to do a bachelorette challenge with her, since apparently she's grown up in a very cloistered environment (i.e. too damned busy to socialize much with anyone outside her immediate family).
So at the end of the week, she had two possible partners left and was to "mess around" with both of them as a final test of sorts. I play with risky woohoo (MC Command Center), so I was particularly interested in letting her do the challenge as a teen, so that I could use this interaction instead of woohoo and not risk her getting pregnant before she's ready.
However, after she went home and had her birthday party and aged up, she had the pregnancy test interaction available for her when she went to the bathroom. Is this a result of her aging up? Does it mean 'mess around' can lead to pregnancies? In teens? Only in adults?
I was really thinking of making a request for mess around for adults as a form of birth control and because healthy sexuality shouldn't be about restricting oneself to one kind of sex. But now I'm thinking I don't really understand the interaction. Does anyone have some insight into what is going on here?

Well, there it is! She's preggers and doesn't know who the father may be, so an interesting plot twist. Maybe if her grandmother hadn't have died recently, there wouldn't have been room in the home and this wouldn't have happened, but at least now that there's a baby on the way, it's a good thing that extra room is there. Marriage delayed until we have a better idea of what is going on here.
But it would still be nice to know more about this 'mess around' option. Also birth control. And babies generally.
Does anyone know the answer to my original question about messing around and then getting pregnant? Also, is having a full household good birth control for Sims? How about the game birth control option? Seems like it is pretty ineffective in my experience. I've got babies all over the place and my kinda self Sim, who has two husbands, rarely gets to make good use of the arrangement, as a result.
