Hi all, I've been trying to make a mesh edit of that half dome thing from Romantic Garden, to make it into a full dome with a small opening for sims to walk through. I successfully did the mesh/texture, but there is still an issue of sims walking through parts of the gazebo- namely the original 'half dome' part is unroutable, but sims will walk through the new part of the dome I've added on. I thought that maybe 'editing footprint to mesh' in S4S would solve the issue but it didn't, so I'm sort of at a loss. Here's a skillfully drawn picture of the issue if all that didn't make sense: Red = sims can't walk there, green = sims can walk there. I have the left and I want to change my CC to the right: Here's a download link for the file if that helps, too: SimFileShareI understand the concept of importing rug footprints so sims can walk through/around items, but as far as I know there isn't an item that has the same shape as mine, so I can't just import a footprint from another item. But if I am just derping and there is an item that would fit, please let me know!

hi! i was thinking the same exact thing when i was reading your last paragraph. Question.. what is the difference in game from leaving the footprint that came with the arch thingy, and applying the "adjust footprint" with your imported mesh? does it change anything?

Question.. what is the difference in game from leaving the footprint that came with the arch thingy, and applying the "adjust footprint" with your imported mesh? does it change anything? The only difference that I could tell was it changed the grid size- the original object was (i think) 3x5, and the updated one is now 4x5 to fit the whole object. I dont remember the exact sizes but I do remember it getting larger.

i see. that's what i thought, thanks for replying though. The thing is that i've only seen rectangles and squares... not u shapes or similar.. something that would enclose it.. :/ i'm not really sure, but i'll keep an eye on this thread in case someone comments something new, maybe there's an object in the code but i'm just not thinking about it (?)

But if I am just derping and there is an item that would fit, please let me know! I have a solution for you! Your footprint resource has multiple point lists. | | The very topmost one has 22 points. This is the pathing footprint and in this picture you will see the shape it makes. You will need to add points to this list in order to change its shape. | |

Ahh thank you! I thought there might be something like that, but I was looking under 'Routing Polygons' instead of 'Footprint Polygons'! I'm going to go edit it now

Okay I'm back, I wasn't able to get the footprint working properly. I made sure to use the 'y' coordinate in bledner and change the sign for the z coordinates in S4S, but for some reason whenever I try to add points to that polygon, sims are able to walk through the whole object.
I thought that maybe I could just create new polygons, a rectangle for each end, and make those unroutable rather than add on to the original polygon, but they didn't seem to have any effect.
Any thoughts?

The only thing that I can think of is that you accidentally left the polygon open. Share the non-working one and I'll compare to the first one you shared to see if I can spot any errors. It also makes a difference where you put your new points in the list.
EDIT: I did a test myself and added 12 additional points. I had to import into another package since I don't have that expansion and it worked as expected.

Time to necro-post! Spirashun Did you ever get this resolved? I'm about to create a tutorial on footprint shape editing and plan to use your object as reference, if that's ok with you.

Hi brujah - yes! I believe I was initially trying to create a new polygon under the object footprint instead of editing the existing one? I don't fully remember what I ended up doing to be honest!! But yes you're more than welcome to use the object however you like for the tutorial The final download is here. (Sorry for getting back to you so late!)

I was away for a long time after this was posted and wasn't able to write the tutorial for editing the footprint. The closest tutorial I can offer you at this time is HERE It describes how to get a visual representation of the footprint. I will help you if needed and I hope to get the tutorial written soon since I've returned. EDIT: If/When you need assistance please create a new thread. EDIT2: New tutorial is HERE it is a continuation of the first tutorial I linked.
