Hey All,
This is the first time I'm trying to import a 3D model into the sims that is above 2000 polys. I have a D.VA mech from OverWatch I'm trying to import. It's 32,000 polys. I have been trying to import it into the Sims 4 studio for about an hour now and it just won't import. (That's me closing it down after about 5-10 minutes, not loading it in for an entire hour.)
No error message is popping up its just constantly sitting here... trying to import going around and around in circles.
I'm wondering if maybe there is a poly limit and it just isn't going to import it for me.
Does anyone have any idea why it may not be importing it in?
xox

So I have done some testing.
2000 = 30 seconds 5000 = 1 minute 10000 = 3 minutes 16000 = 6 minutes
All this considered I think 32,000 is going to take maybe 15-20 minutes to import. So maybe nothing is broken.

It did, it worked, took about 17 minutes.

Studio is not meant to support astronomical poly count. Neither is the game, I think this is the reason among others (like your processor or the ram you have) that this could take long to load. It will also freeze the game and give lag to the people that use them. It is not recommended at all. I usually bypass the EA recommended polycount a little for special object that needed more detail. But going over 10K is just crazy. Ofcourse it is my opinion, and you're welcome to disagree with me. It's just a warning in case you didn't know about the consequenses that this could lead.

you know, you can decrease the amount of polys and verticles in decimate. but.. the mesh will become like a stick.

There are other ways to decrease poly count like deleting the loops if mesh is retopologized. Low poly doesn't equal low quality. Decimating can be an option for the items like accessories, but not clothes.
