Heya! I'm a new sim player and I've recently started playing with CC. I've downloaded a lot of different CC and I'm having a problem with A LOT of it. Whenever I'm trying to place furnitures I've downloaded, an error message saying "script call failed" appears. I've googled it and it seems like some people have this issues with mirrors, but this message appears on everything from mirrors, lights, chairs etc.. Why is that? Is it something else I have to download to make the CC work? Please help a newbie out :/

Hi! That error is probably because EA changed something in the "tuning" of those items with a recent update. The tuning controls, basically the function of the object, among other things, but lets keep it simple. Most of this problems can be fixed with Sims 4 Studio. You can download the program and run a "Batch fix". It is in the upper part of the program. You will see and Tools menu to display. Then, you can see batch fixes and choose from there.
There are many depending on what it needs to be fixed. For example, lights and mirrors. Also to update older chair and tables to "Dine out" game pack. The program will run a batch fix that will most likely fix all the problems with those objects. It also makes a backup in case you want to restore one of your files, or you're not happy with the result. This can be found in the path "Documents/Sims 4 Studio/Batchfixes".
If there are other items that you think that might need a batch fix, please give more information about it. We can make a suggestion to add it to Studio. You mention fireplaces. Can you provide a .package example of one of those that are not working? This way the issue can be investigated.

Always make sure you read all the information that comes with the download. Items have both a texture and a mesh. Much of the available cc are recolors of other people's meshes and many mesh makers do not allow recolorers to include the mesh with their cc. You need the original. Recolorers typically link you to them.

as mathcope said i bet most of those are just items that need the batch fix in studio, its really easy to do and you wont break anything by batch fixing them . A list of items that the script will fail if its not batched properly is chairs, lights, and mirrors. the others will normally place but they will be missing interactions available.for example if u have a kid bed that isnt batched you will never get the monster under the bed b ut you can use the bed just fine. still not having it batched could cause issues so i tend to batch everything when studio makes it available. Sometimes however, a simmer just misses a step in their creative process and oddly enough i have had several fire places have that issue . They just forget a certain foot source and it makes it where you can not place the object. starting the cc craze can be discouraging when it starts out like this but i promise once you get the hang of it , its very fun and addictive to download all the amazing cc. Since you're just starting i would suggest coming up with an organizing system for folders so you can check and remove cc when you need to quickly and efficiently.

Is there a way to remove clothes appearing in the shower without changing each individual item?
