So, I started working on my tail and all of a sudden the uv's started doing this which is really odd because I haven't moved them. I still have the fins separated, I'm just trying to get this main part good with the game before I add those back in. I also don't see/can't find uv_1 so...should I do a data transfer from a skirt? What's the best way to fix this? Package: www.simfileshare.net/filedetails/208179/Blend: simfileshare.net/download/208178/

hi! Let's see. 1. The separation is due to the vertex paint not being painted properly. 2. The mesh isn't transparent because you haven't changed the shader of the mesh. Open the page i linked, press ctrl+f and look for "shader" (no quotes). The second result is what you should read. You need to change all geometries for simglass. 3. The discoloration at the bottom does show up in blender, the UV it's outside the texture. either fix the uv or fix the texture. 4. The weird shape is due to the weight. 5. And the tail has no UV_1. You'll have to re do the weight and UV_1. Then delete the skin part and re import EA's original mesh so that there's no seams.

Ok, I almost have it... Turning it to simglass made the waist disappear and it has some issues around the waistband... so I'll delete and try to reattach from the nude bottom again. I'm also getting a weird transparency issue with the body of the tail... Maybe instead of simglass I can do something with the alpha in photoshop? Or is there a way to make the fins and waist simglass but the tail solid? Do I need to run a solidify modifier on the fins? I'm thinking that you might need to have the skin part on a regular group and the tail on a separate group for glass. Try changing that and distributing the tail on another group if you have one.
As for the transparency issues, i can't help you with that. Glass is very bothersome and a bit hard to control. Maybe someone else can help you with that as i don't have any suggestions that could work.

Does anyone know how to make a piece simglass and the rest not? The tail and skin works great solid...

well, i've been trying to separate the tail/skin and the fin/waist into two meshes - s4studio_mesh_1 and s4studio_mesh_2 - and I can't figure out how to make both parts show up... I've experimented with the cut numbers 0000 and 0001 and saved with both 0000 but no matter what combination I save, only one part shows...How do I get both parts to show, but keep them separated?

Can you share the updated blend and package with the groups divided differently?

Hello, take as an object clone into several groups, for example a skirt. The tail under a certain angle will become invisible. He has only one layer of normals. It will be visible only the face. I would single out the fin in the third group and give it volume.

Ok, just to clarify, I need to break it into 3 or more studio meshes, make sure the cut numbers are correct, and add some volume to the tail and that should do it? The simglass shader only needs to be applied to part of it, is there a way to keep the tail solid?
I've gotten it to show up by breaking it into three meshes, but the simglass shader is not showing...

ok I think I almost have it... just need to fix the texture in a few spots....for future reference to those looking, if you go in the warehouse tab, you can change the individual geometry piece to simglassCAS. Good to know.

Okay... Everything works great...except for the UV 1 :( I guess when I separated the objects it messed it all up. Should I combine and redo a data transfer and try to separate again?

When you separate the objects to different groups it doesn't break uvs.
Yes.
