I was trying to make some sim portraits based on in game screenshots. I wanted quite a few done.
I started off with just one, and got that portrait to work with a mesh border that I really liked. So I hung it up and saved and quit my game.
So I assumed that now that I know how to work the studio, I can just copy and paste the mesh file. Rename it, and open it up on the studio and use a different picture, so I can now have two different items in the catalogue.
I opened my game back up and my custom content shows on the title screen.
Yet when I go inside my house to hang my portraits up, there is only one portrait slot in build mode.
Also interestingly enough, the photo I hung up before is not there, in it's place is a photo I renamed that is first alphabetically. So it's not letting me have more than one mesh photo, and it will only show the photo that's first alphabetically.
So I can only have one portrait per mesh? That doesn't seem right.
Can someone help me please?

In other words, if I make more than one mesh portrait, only one mesh portrait would show up in the buy mode catalogue, and in addition the mesh/portrait the game will use is the one that comes first alphabetically.
For example if I named three CC portraits Basketball, Graduation and Wedding. The portrait I named Basketball would show up, and the other two portrait's would not.
So I can't use more than one mesh, and also if I use more than one mesh it replaces all the other meshes with the one that comes first alphabetically.
I assume this is because the hexes or id codes used in sims studio are being duplicated somehow. As I said I thought and still think I was doing the right thing by renaming the meshes to add different photos. But maybe that's not the way to do it?
Just wanted to clear my question up more.

hi! Welcome to the forums! Let me see if i can understand what you're trying to explain... You're recoloring a painting cc ...? Please head over to this tutorial, it explains how to properly clone the object for you to recolor and how to add new swatches to it. If this isn't what you're asking, then please try to explain it again.

Thank you for the quick reply.
No, that's not quite what my issue is. Well at least I don't think it.
Even if it was, I don't have that version of sims studio and not sure if I can get it. As I'm on a Mac.
First of all I originally followed this tutorial by this young woman. Using her exact same programs. That same version of studio I have, (appletini) and using photoshop. I'm attempting to do exactly what she's doing.
But I'll explain it once more very bluntly.
I'm trying to put screenshots/portraits I took of my sims up on the walls of my house, via using sims creator tricking it into thinking you're buying a painting off buy mode, and editing/renaming meshes of portrait frames and using photoshop to put my photos in those frames.
If I did it successfully, which I was able to, I would just go in buy mode and buy the photos I made in photoshop and hang them up on the wall.
However, I have tons more photos I want to hang up in my house, and I really like the mesh frame too.
So I just rinsed and repeated what I did. I took the mesh, renamed it to something else. Opened it up in sims studio and added my pictures in photoshop inside the frames. Saved my work and put it in the mods folder of course.
I open the game up and my meshes show up on the custom content list. However. they all don't show up in the build/buy mode catalogue.
Only one photo does, and it's the photo/image title that I named which comes first in the alphabet. Regardless of when I made it or added it into game.
I mean it's nice I'm able to add one photo with this mesh, but I should be able to add as many as I would like. Granted if I just rename the files and put them into the mods folder right?
What I'm asking is, can I only use one photo per portrait mesh?
I'm going to take a nap, but I appreciate your help and would like someone to help me with this or tell me if this is possible.
Thank you.

Maybe I don't understand, but couldn't you just add swatches with new images to the completed frame you are happy with?

Firstly, The MAC version of s4s is on its beta stage and only works for CAS items. Not build buy, so i'm not sure what program you're using or what OS.
Are you opening the files with the MAC version?
Secondly, you can't simply "rename" a package and obtain a different object. You have to clone the object from scratch every time you want an independent version. BUT, in this case, you want the same frame with more than one swatch. You NEED to read the link i shared before and follow the instruction on how to add more swatches instead of renaming other files.
EDIT: I'm watching the full video and now i'm understanding what's going on. In short, you CAN'T have more than one swatch/picture by following the steps you're trying to make. The APPLE version doesn't have the ability to work with OBJECTS. Yes, you might be able to open them but by editing the pictures you see on the original package, what you're only doing is overriding them. Changing the name of the files over and over isn't doing anything as far as the package goes. Each package has it's own IDs, and when you clone them they change. Since you can't clone, you can't have more than one at once.

yes, if they are different objects you can have more than one. but you can't edit the same one over and over. try looking out for meshes that have more than 1 swatch. tsr objects only have a maximum of 3 so I would look elsewhere.
