I didn't know where to ask about this but I have a question about S4S as far as the time it's taking some objects to load in the "My CC" browser. Is it safe to assume that if it's lagging when trying to view it there, it's probably also lagging when my game starts/plays? I am trying to get rid of a bunch of CC since my game takes for ever to load and my sims are starting to look like they are doing the robot instead of interacting but I already know why, I'm a CC-aholic I'm hoping the answer is yes that way I can just trash all the slow loading mods.

At a guess yeah, if its taking too long best bet would be to delete then manually, or do it backwards ie move all your mods out and go through them and put back in what you really need. Most people have mods they never use or can do without.

Just to be clear I'm talking about individual objects. Not the folder as a whole. Usually most pop up in the preview pane instantly but some can take 5-10 seconds to load. What I did was create a folder on my desktop and called it "sims storage" and anything that takes more then a few seconds to load (I have a really fast computer) in the mods browser is getting put in there for now and kept out of my game folder.

Someone else will need to tell you if its directly related to the my CC thingy, I have never used it the only mods in my game are mine, some hairs and every cheat script I can find :D. But I do know too many will at least affect load times, more so if they are high poly things.

Oh yea, anything that is over a certain poly count now is gone or about to be gone for sure. I found a necklace that was 18,000 poly. I didn't even move it, I just deleted it. lol Now you sound like me. I have tons of cheat scripts too. But I also love to build and decorate. If I told you how much CC I had..it's ridiculous. I want to get rid of gigs of CC. lol

Just want to let you know it wasn't what I initially thought. It actually lags up when viewing recolors. And mirrors too. At least for me.

I don't know if this will help or not but I found a lot of Sims 2 conversions are really poly heavy ( 30,000 polys for a bed!) and cause what you're describing. I did the same thing and went through the folders I knew had a lot of conversions and had to delete or modified them. My thing was a I downloaded a beautiful house, unplayable but beautiful then was unwilling to delete most of the lag objects... Lucky I can mod so the really important ones I re-did.

Anything that had a ridiculous poly count was a conversion and since I kept all conversions in a single folder I just moved it and the game got better. My issue is I have close to 15 gig of CC and I really don't need that much. I am trying now to really sort out what I want. I don't need 100 different eye shadows and enough furniture to never use the same thing in two houses through the whole game. WAY too much poo. lol

Wow 15gb! My entire sims 4 docs folder is just over 2 gb. (2.34gb total) And I cleared out again after reading your post (thanks). I took out a huge amount of TSR made things, some are very strange, missing lods, major polys. Not all but a lot had to come out. Cushions for eg had not only the cushion colours but a shed load of the original objects colours. I really must learn to do them myself. Todays rule was if its not being used, its out. Good luck

freeasabird oh wow! that's some bad luck! i never came across things like that in tsr. maybe they were very old objects? i usually rely on decor and furniture there because they have "strict" polygons policy. My recommended creators are wondymoon, buffsumm & soloriya. i love all their items. I think i'm moving this to the discussion threads since this doesn't quite fit on custom content creation.

That is fine. I wasn't really sure where to put it. Although I might submit a separate bug report since I am having issues with it loading previews very slowly, not just recolors.
There you have to source of my CC addiction. TSR! And Lanas CC finds. Those two places keep my hard drive working over time. lol I have no idea about 3d objects or how to tell whats bad or not. I'm like a cave man with that "high poly bad..."*grunt* That's about the extent of my knowledge lol.

Yes I think they were very old as I rarely see things like that. Nearly all came from a house I DL when this game was new and I couldn't mesh then, but now I know what to look for and how to fix things. I have some beautiful things from TSR from the same house with no problems, so its just luck of the draw
