im trying to change the apperance of some of the clothing, editing some CC clothing, there is an top i like but i dont want sleeves on it, but the thing is i dont know how to edit the textures, ive tried deleting them from the .dds yet when i view it in sims4studio the parts i changed become pure white, looking at the mesh it doesnt seem to be any different, there are only diffuse and shadow textures, normal map is blank. to me it seems that it was just painted over the base sim model
This is for personal use btw

hi! you have to edit the alpha channel of the texture as well.

if you mean the setting when saving it (compression format is dxt5 argb 8bpp | interpolated alpha) ive done that, if that was not the part you mean could you go into a little more detail as ive removed the parts i wanted to remove on both texture files

When you are making your new image, you need to have all transparency except where the texture for the garment sits. Your result indicates that you do not have transparency in the part of the image that corresponds to the arms where you removed the sleeve texture. What 2D editor are you using to make the image? We have tutorials in the CAS/Pose section that show how to make images using Photoshop, Paint.NET, and GIMP. Also, you do not have to save your image as .dds. You can also use .png and many people find that easier.

Having read what OM said above, if you still prefer to use .dds then head over to the channels tab and click on the alpha layer. (i only work with photoshop, but i gather it must be similar on any other image editor)

Paint.NET manages .dds natively (doesn't require a special plugin to work with them) and does not separate the alpha like this. If you remove the arm texture on an EA .dds using Paint.NET, you don't have a second step to remove the white part on the alpha layer. Not sure how GIMP does it, it's probably like Photoshop. All the texture tutorials I wrote were for Paint.Net as it is free (and I just can't stand GIMP :P) and the goal was to make it so anyone could mod the game regardless of their income. Brujah made a video tutorial that shows how to use both GIMP and Photoshop to make a CAS image so we have a tutorial for each of the 2D editors commonly used in Sims 4
