I'm very sorry if this is in the wrong section but I don't know where to ask this question. I've googled and googled and cannot find an answer. I don't know why, but PSP9 has replaced all my package files with their icon. I uninstalled S4S, the Sims4 and PSP9, then I searched my computer for any files relating to PSP9 and deleted those. Then I restarted my laptop and reinstalled Sims4, then S4S and then PSP9. Still all my package files appear as the PSP9 icon image. I tried restoring the laptop to an earlier date, but that didn't fix this problem. This is making me so upset that I am even now downloading AdobePhotoshop, which I have never used and am nervous about trying to learn a new paint program. PSP9 even changed my Sims2 package files to their icon. No matter what I have tried I cannot fix this horrible glitch and it's very upsetting to me as I love to recolour things. I am on AffinitySims.com and am known there as MissionMouse. Mostly I did stuff for Sims2 but Sims4 is kinda cool and I really enjoy doing clothing for Sims4, but since this glitch I am too nervous to upload anything in case it messes up someone's game.
If anyone can help me I would be so grateful. I am not a good technical person but I will try and do whatever it takes to fix this. I do know that for my own games, this glitch has no effect whatsoever on what I make, but if possible I would like to fix this issue.
I'm not sure what other information you need, ASUSTek Computer Inc Model: GL752VW Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz 2.59GHz Ram: 16.0 GB 64-bit Operating System x64-based processor

From what I understand, you need to change the file association, it is somewhat simple to do. When you install a program, that program can associate certain file extensions to be opened with it. The Sims don't do it for .package because the game can't open a .package file directly, it just uses it. That's why it doesn't change on your computer even if you reinstall the game. You can check this, it should resolve your problem: www.lifewire.com/how-to-change-file-associations-in-windows-2624477Notice that for the computer, there is no difference between a Sims 2 .package, a Sims 3 .package or a Sims 4 .package, so the application you will choose to open a .package file will affect all of them. You can still choose a different program if you do a right click before opening the file.
