Hi everyone. I've been making recolors recently and I want to try to gain some knowledge of meshing. I want to recolor the girls jean skirt from the base game but I wanted to get rid of the belt seen here: I've tried following tutorials but nothing is helping. Could someone please help me with VERY detailed instructions? Thank you! =) Edit: How do I get the picture to show up?

hi, welcome to the forums! In my opinion editing the mesh that little (there's only one or two vertices to be moved to hide the bow, but you'll fix all the seams of the item that appear upon export)
Wouldn't it be easier to clone the skirt mini and import the textures of this skirt? they look pretty similar so maybe the texture will fit as well.
For the image to appear correctly, you need to copy the direct link (that ends with image.png). Once your image is uploaded in imgur, click on it to zoom and right click on it to select "copy image address".

How would I clone it and import the textures? Would that get rid of the belt?

You mentioned above that you were used already to doing recolors. It's the same thing. Export all the textures of this skirt, edit them in your image editor of choice to remove the ribbon of them.
Then clone the other skirt i suggested to import those textures.

So basically just cut out the belt and paste it onto the girls plain mini skirt? Is that what you mean? Cause I tried that and it looked weird.

I meant exactly what i wrote earlier.
Can you explain what steps are you following and how you're editing the textures?

Okay so I exported the textures of the jean skirt and of the mini skirt. I use GIMP. I'm using free select to try and get rid of the bow, but it's hard cause everything is so pixelated. If I achieve that, then I'll color the jean skirt to alpha and paste it onto the mini skirt.
Edit: Even when I get rid of the bow, after I color what's left to alpha it still leave the shape of the bow. So I'm not sure how to fix that. And then wouldn't I still have to somehow copy that middle part of the jean skirt and replicate it so it goes to the top of the skirt and doesn't look strange?

You don't have to touch the alpha layer at all, only the main texture. I never said it would be easy XD, you have to either re draw all the top part or maybe look for child jeans that might be similar and mix the textures to fill the gaps. And you should import the modified textures on the mesh that doesn't have the bow. EDIT: i quickly edited one texture if it's any help. now it's left all the top part. download.

Ah, thank you so much! But for some reason I can't open dds files, I thought I installed the plugin correctly but I guess not. I'll have to figure it out.
Edit: I found something online that let me convert the file to png. You did it so well! How did you do that? Thank you so much. I wish I had your skills.

oh sorry! I used the patch tool in photoshop. But i believe you can do the same with the clone tool in gimp.
here's a video about it:
thank you! I've been editing pictures for more than 15 years, or even more so don't worry everything comes with practice. This applies to anything you want to do so keep going!

That's so nice of you to say! I hope to be as good as you one day. Also the video is just showing as a broken icon, is it on youtube? Maybe you could give me the name so I could just search it.
Edit: Oh nooo I put it in the game and the bow still shows up for some reason? You can't see it in gimp or is s4s so I don't know why this is happening.

Sorry! fixed the link. i must have pressed the wrong tool.
Can you show a picture in game of the issue?, are you importing the textures on the skirt i suggested instead of the one with the actual bow?

Oh, nope, I complete forgot about that and it fixed my problem. Sorry about that. However, I have another question. The regular mini skirt is just slightly longer than the denim one, so there's a little gap at the bottom like this: Is there a way to get rid of that? I tried just cutting it out but then it shows up as the model's skin color is s4s instead of just being gone.

You have two choices, either extend the texture by editing just as you did with the bow or you'll have to go into blender and edit it's UV map. Here's a video on how to edit uv maps. You will have to select the last row of the skirt and move it up to meet the edges of the texture.

I didn't do anything with the bow though, you did all that. You mentioned something about using a clone tool though and I watched that video but I wasn't able to get the tool to do anything. When I cloned it in looked a bit different but I couldn't figure out how to get it onto the bottom of the skirt. And if I were to edit the UV map, would I be editing the plain mini skirt or the denim one? And how would I know how much to shorten each one? Just trial and error?
Edit: I figured out the clone tool! I'm so happy right now.
