Then using that version is what might be giving you issues. I suggest using 2.70 instead. You can download the zip version from blender's page (linked in the s4s' download post). You load this version from its exe file instead of installing it on your computer.
btw, i asked for both the reference and your mesh to be on the same blend. not divided into two. i need to check if you're joining everything like it should and all the steps before following the weight transfer tutorial.

Hmm...what I think it's that I do not assign the bones to the right places. But anyway I'll give it a try and let you know :3 For now, here's a blend file that has both the mesh and the reference after the process (from what I understood that's what you ask for right?) Sorry for beeing such a noob -_- *boop*

The blend is not right. You have to append all the meshgroups of the reference mesh and join them. Your reference has 3 groups, all must be appended, selected and joined by pressing ctrl+J. Once that is done, you follow the weight transfer tutorial.
