How do you make a transparent clothing mesh?? I'm really lost.
I've looked at some tutorials but it's really confusing. Does anyone know how they can tell me in baby steps? c:

SLYD, i follow that exact tutorial and the cut was messed up or something each thing had it's own cut, but when i put it in studio, one of the items didn't show up. if you rearranged the cuts then another item didn't show up

make sure your blender file have exactly same amount of mesh groups as the original mesh. and also make sure your mesh groups have the same cut numbers as the original mesh. For example, the original mesh has 3 groups: 's4studio_mesh_1', cut number '0000' 's4studio_mesh_2', cut number '0001' 's4studio_mesh_3', cut number '0002'
your mesh should have the same mesh groups and cut numbers. 's4studio_mesh_1', cut number '0000' 's4studio_mesh_2', cut number '0001' 's4studio_mesh_3', cut number '0002'
nothing less. otherwise your mesh won't show up correctly.

SLYD , that fixed that problem! thanks! but now im having another. on the tutorial, when it says to duplicate your skirt mesh in the warehouse and to change the last number in the group tab, i changed it. but when it says to open up region map and to edit the entries, there is no RegionType anything. and when i go to the base tab, then click edit on the models tab, the thing i duplicated doesn't show up

You don't need to duplicate the mesh in s4s. UN did that in his tutorial because he had 4 mesh groups in the blender file: 3 of them were the sim legs and 1 was the skirt. And in the package file there were only 3. So he had to duplicate one geometry in the warehouse tab and assign it to a new cut number so that s4s can read his 4th mesh group in the blender file.
The thing is the amount of mesh group doesn't matter. He had 4, you had 3. The content inside each mesh group doesn't matter either. As long as your blender file has the same amount of mesh groups as the package file, s4s is able to read your meshes. To make transparent clothes, you need at least 2 groups. You need to separate the non-transparent part and transparent part into different mesh groups. The most important part of making transparent clothes is to change the shader of the transparent mesh to be 'simglass'.
In your case, you already separated the legs and the skirt, which is good. You can just skip section 'B_Fix the package to read the new mesh' in the tutorial and jump to 'Optional: Create the inner part of the skirt, a border and fix the clipping problem Clipping'.
Also, you can delete the geometry you duplicated earlier.

SLYD , thank you so much! that helped me A LOT buuuuutttt now i have another problem c: after doing all of that, im confused when it says i need two different images for my skirt. i think i understand this, but im not 100% sure i understand what alpha means.. so i rescaled my texture and all that, but when it says to make a gradient, i put it on the specular map. but having it full black makes my sim shiny. and getting rid of most of the black, meaning it's only on my skirt, in game, my sim's legs are textured. or to be more specific, i can't see a texture on my sim's legs. edit: lol i figured it out. i removed the specular and instead added a layer of transparency to the skirt on the diffuse tab. hehe. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP! this makes me feel so much more confident in the cc i make <3 ty had no idea it was so simple lol

I don't see anything disappeared in your mesh. For making new mesh from scratch, I suggest always cloning EA items with only one mesh group. I wrote a tutorial about this.
