Hello! I have been working with transparency in my meshes, and so far it has gone pretty well, these are things I have successfully meshed that have no shine problems: Note the lace on the jumper and on the bonnet. No shine. Now, I am working on a shirt, and I cloned the jumper I made with its settings, just replaced it with my new mesh (also 2 mesh groups, assigned to correct cut numbers.) Anyway, it has that glossy plastic shine, and I can't get rid of it: I have deleted spec, normal, shadow, and I tried with altered spec to block out shine... nothing. Nothing makes a difference. The geom which contains the lace has been set to "simglass." Why does the package I cloned this from not have shine, but this one does, and how can I get rid of it? Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I've never worked with CAS items, only objects. So, I'm not sure if this applies to that type of object too.
But, what I do when I need to add transparency for something (like lace to curtain edges for example) is to hit CTRL+SHIFT+C to bring up the cheat box then type in "alphalpha" (without the quotes).
If I've already placed the texture in S4S and realize that alpha is not enabled, it won't appear to do anything. I just re-import the texture again and then it shows up with the appropriate transparency where it should.

hi! you have to edit the special instead of deterring it or else it's going to pick up from other items used in your sim.
the main layer should be black and the alpha should have the white overlay of your clothing.
the other texture that doesn't have alpha channel should have the white overlay as well.
also there was a similar thread not long ago (I'm on my phone sorry) about this and they suggested checking the shine string that is inside the model/materials.

Thank you both for the responses! Chicklet, I did not know abut this cheat, that's interesting! IABR, so, and I have had this issue before, but if I black the main layer completely, the rest of the sim shines, well I went ahead and blacked the clothing part (which is probably what you meant anyway hehe) and reversed it for the mask... and SUCCESS! I had messed with the spec before, but couldn't get it going right. Finally this is fixed, thank you so much! I am dropping this image here so others can see exactly what I did, if they have the same problem:

Hey!

enriques4 by saying that you deletedspecular from S4S do you mean that you blanked it (used a button "make blank")? Try exporting any EA's specular and importing in your file to see if it helped. If it didn't please post the file here so someone can take a look.
