Hey again I've been following slyd's tutorial on creating normal maps for clothing, and it all goes well (it seems) until I open the game. I've had this issue on everything I've made so far, which means that nothing I've made has a proper working normal map- which is a shame. So I thought instead of holding off finding a fix I should just sort it out now. So ingame, when i use the clothing, it looks weird and just bugs out, and obviously I've done something wrong. This is how it looks with no normal map.. Download of the .package (with broken normal) - www.sendspace.com/file/arc5myHere's the normal maps - imgur.com/a/CgzeI1 is the original baked map 2 is the map used in the texture (after all the modification is done to it) 3 is the map before the colour/alpha channels are changed When I was trying to fix this myself, I compared my normal to other normal maps and mine looked like it was missing the detail from the alpha channel. Also, the normal produced is opaque, whereas normals in sims 4 are transparent. I tried messing around with the alpha channel but it still gave the same flat result. I'm confused now that it might be an issue with my photoshop maybe? idk. But yeah, any insight onto whatever I'm doing wrong would be awesome, this has been really annoying me :P

I exported your normal map from the package file and noticed it didn't have an alpha channel. Have you followed my tutorial in step 26-30 to copy the original red channel to alpha channel and copy the green channel to red and blue channel? If you did, I've also came across with this issue when I imported the normal map into s4s and it went wrong. Your normal map appears darker than the EA normal map in s4s. I fixed it by exporting an EA normal map, coping and pasting every channel (red, green, blue, alpha) from mine to the EA one.

Yup, I followed the steps. I'll try copying my channels to an EA normal tomorrow, that sounds like a very good idea.
I'll make an update/post when I try it, thanks.

okay so i tried copying the channels to an EA normal and it looked right but this is what happened when i checked it with a blank white swatch I'm pretty sure the normal is meant to add more detail? idk. Here's the normal map it's using - i.imgur.com/C5Cn12k.pngHere's the updated .package - www.sendspace.com/file/xmr7abDo you know what's going wrong now? :( Thanks.

I exported your normal map and your alpha channel is solid grey with no detail on it. Did you save your normal map as dds or png? You should save it as dds. What version of s4s are you using? I remade the normal map using the image you post (3 is the map before the colour/alpha channels are changed) and tested in game with a solid grey diffuse map. It looks pretty good. BTW I do not suggest using pure white to test normal map because it gets overexposed in CAS. Here's the normal map I made. simfileshare.net/download/280270/
